2009 Racing ToDo List

As racing season fast approaches (and for those in warmer climates, possibly has begun), what do you have left on your ToDo list to get ready? Mine seems WAY too big to get done till summer... but I knew 2009 was going to be a prep-season for me.

Install TRE prepped 6spd & Exedy Clutch/Flywheel

My first track day was last weekend, so I've been busy for the past few months getting ready, OK, it's been 9 months. I had to finish break-in and tune the motor, as well as fabricating a bunch of stuff like new brake ducts and aero additions. Barely finished. You can check my build thread for all the gory details and pics.

Now that I've done a shakedown I've got this list to address before the next track day. I was going to do one in April, but have decided to pass on that and not go again until May. I hate the stress of always needing to work on the car. I need a break. So here's what's next.

Before next track day
- Finish Accusump install
- Build new high flow catch can and breather system
- Build a double pumper fuel system
- Tune on E85
- Buy some 2 piece rotors and install.

Mid-Summer
- Build a rear diffuser
- Build a GT wing

Here are some pics form last weekend in the rain

Don't need you guys today...

Need to fix this action.

Need to finish this.

Speaking of race gas, have the prices lowered? Last summer I payed $8.75 a gallon for Sunoco 100 unleaded. I have not called New England Race Fuels this year. I noticed the same Sunoco 100 was cheaper in the new pump at Pocono International Raceway last summer. Watkins Glen has Sunoco pumps, but I did not check the price last fall.

Had my first shake-down trip to the track last night. Just an afternoon instructing for the SCCA. Car felt solid; no issues besides some hot brakes (need to flush fluid) and some bad tire pressures.
Running my new gauges for the first time; what are other people seeing in terms of Oil Temp? I was seeing around 215 during my hot laps. Any feedback?

- Install/fab front undertray
- Once undertray in place, redo NACA's for brake ducting
- Install rear tow point
- Scrub in 285/30's and determine rubbing points
- Get new fuel system and tune for E85
- Upgrade Ecu/Engine/Drivetrain/Tranny/Diff's/Turbo Kit/Brakes
- Finetune brake pedal spacers for comfortable heal/toe final position.
- Get Aero....lots of it.
- Somehow pay off debts/bills and have 1500 leftover each month for track days.
