If I keep the car I'm definitely upgrading to 2 pieces rotors. I have a pretty good deal on DBA 5000 but they wont be available until the end of august. Might have to take a look at those Girodisc.

Dan, the only thing the spotter saw was me going down his track sideway. He probably thought I was having too much fun. I'm really happy with my wheel setup. I'm running Pirelli P-Zero Corsa in 265/35. I just bought a set of Enkei RPF1 for the track. The DPT's are to nice to be on the car only for track days. I'm waiting on my coilovers before I take pictures of the car.

Another one bites the dust

THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT AN ISOLATED CASE

I had that in May, but did not post it up cos I thought it was an isolated case.

Happened to me at the tracks as well, was braking from 4th to a 3rd gear right turn when the left disc gave way and spun me around at >140km/h.

Heres the rotor pics from my incident in May this year

BE CAREFUL !!

Seems like changing Rotors and Clutch pumps is imperiative for our Xs

My Girodisc 2 pieces fronts just arrived yesterday and the 1 piece rears will be here today
That truly is nutty and 2 people so far...

I already have the 1 piece rears and will also be getting the Girodisc 2 piece front rotors before my next track event. Likely I'll get my stockers turned and set aside as hot spares but running on them hard has my thinking twice now.

Have there been any incidences of this on the MRs (different rotor)???
Were you sideways up over the hill, down, and into the decreasing radius to complete all 3 turns?

OUCH!

thats pretty crazy, basically perfect cut ur rotors from 1 piece to 2 pieces

looks like i'll be gettin 2 piece rotors too next year, im hitting the circuit once this year, then next spring probably more often w/ a coilover setup so i guess good idea to upgrade to 2 piece

and if that happened to the X rotors i cant imagine what'd happen to our 09lancer rotors after heavy braking

I haven't heard anything about the MR's rotors but than again I hadn't about the GSR before it happen to me, not that it would have change the way I drive.

I had the car straighten up before I was completely down the hill but since I was going to fast still and didn't know if my brake would lock up on me again I decided I little more sideway action couldn't hurt as much as hitting the fence.

so the evo should be immune to this issue since it has two piece rotors, correct?

I'm tracking my MR on the 15th.

Wow. Crazy. My rotor cracked across the diameter but that's on an 8 and on a rotor that's got plenty of cycles. If my rotr ripped off the hat like that I'd be terrified. Time to go aftermarket.

Well, I've never seen that before! The MR rotors are two-piece, so completely different design.

I'd suggest that next time you feel a nasty vibration, do a more thorough search. Rubber stuck on the tires has never been that noticable to me. There have been a few deaths during track days the last couple years, don't want you to become a statistic!

i think even w/ 2 piece rotors there is a chance u can wrap them, maybe not cracked into 2 piece but warping is defiantly still gonna be an issue with ANY brakes if you over use them

but the + side about 2 piece is if the rotor discs warp u can just change the discs and keep the orginal hat, it saves money espeically if u track a lot
