Being fast IS the point mate. Rally is about going from point "A" to point "B" in a lower amount of time than your competitor including penalties. If you're looking for a sideways show, go to a drifting event. But that's mickey mouse, just watch the Group F class in Finland, most RWD rally cars per capita!

If you've been rallying, you might've heard the term "kodak courage".

I always found Gronholm to be annoying when interviewed, but a hell of a driver nonetheless.

Time is everything, yep. I personally like gigi, has very good sense of humor, sure he slides way too much on corners, maybe he wants to entertain fans more? maybe thats the way he drives.

I agree, but it must be his language. After beating loeb and getting another wrc win he retired. his abilities is best, during one of his stints, peugeot change the car to a longer less maneuverable one and he was able to compensate and even make good times.

And he beat Loeb in a Focus, not the 307. that car was cursed anyway. Beef got killed in it.

thanks for the valuable info

By the way Gigi is not slow...
Slower then Loeb ? Maybe , but they never driven a same car at a same track
Thats not even a point though. He is FAST and ENTERTAINING. Loeb is NOT.
I like Loeb as a point collector, and i like Gigi as a driver. End of story.
You cant be always the fastest, but you can enjoy what you doing at least.

If i want something fun to watch, i stick with the Hungarian rally.

I got your point though. He is not as "fast" as Loeb, so why he even drives...
Now i feel empty.

I think Gigi is a great showman, interviews included. I think Loeb and Gronholm are not great showmen but really really good drivers. Gigi obviously knows how to get a car sideways and avoid hitting things in the process, but the other two mentioned seem to have car control down AND do it as fast as possible. I don't know much about Gigi, but Loeb hops in pretty much anything with 4 wheels and DOMINATES. Anybody seen the last 3-4 ROC's? To compare Loeb to much anyone besides his fellow rally champions is silly.

Trying to be the fastest may be YOUR point. But in for most teams and drivers this isn't a business over here (state side), its pure passion, so having fun IS the point.

BTW thanks for breaking down how rally works for us all, I could have sworn that it was a circuit type race or somehting

When I get the chance to step away from the service tent (rare) and see our car and other cars come by at a decent corner, you should know, I love to see the good lines and tank slappers!!!

Its silly how you and a few others talk about how bad showboating is, those fans wait so long to see cars, theres nothing wrong with a little wave for recognition.

I'm a Gigi fan.

And I think you should change your tone brodo.

Red dragons!
