Track Gear
I was on the "closeout" hunt a month ago and picked up a pair of Sparco SFI Pro Race shoes, a pair of SFI Oakley gloves-same one's as jid2 (my Momo gloves fell apart...not recommended!)
Last year I went with a Hans Sport and covered myself from head to toe in closeout Carbon-X when I'm in the car.
Closeout safety gear...hmmm
I never used Nomex so I have no point of comparison, but I really like the Carbon-X material. I don't find it itchy at all even when it gets a bit hot out during the day.
Waiting for the SA 2010's to come out (I think it won't be until late summer/early fall) to pick up a new helmet. I have an older SA 2000 Bell M2.

The main thing about suits is that it meets the required ratings for whatever series you are looking at. After that it's nice to be able to try them on. Clearance stuff rules - as long as it's not date stamped and ready to expire.
^^ I hear ya.
Assuming whatever we're looking at meets all the req's - I just don't want something that's insanely hot because I cheaped out. I dunno if I can justify $1k either.

I spent some time on rennlist to get some insight into suits. The LICO suit was described as very heavy and not recommended by a few folks that bought it and/or tried it on.
Now granted, alot of those guys have the budget to spend on the lightweight stuff, but the interesting part of the reading all the info was it came back time and time again- spend money on a suit and be comfortable.
If you wait, you can get a good lightweight suit..there were a few $1500-$1700 lightweight suits for under a grand on sale as last years models, but it's still going to cost some money.....
Guranteed to make you 5 seconds faster!
But on the suit, i'm in 100% alignment with spend it on a very good one. It's your skin and comfort level. Could mean the differance between your life, your chest hair, or your lasting the whole session.
I'm personally waiting for my bonus next year, and then drive up to SafeRacer so I can actually try stuff on and make the decision then. I suggest the same for anyone coose by or near a simular store because it ain't like buying a pair of Jeans
