this new enthusiast class is what the "street" class should be. i like that a lot.

i never liked street class, since it was essentially just modified class with street tires (i.e. too much power for a "street" class). but now that there is a real enthusiast class that is what the street class should be, maybe it's okay to have in there. but i'd change the name.

get rid of the figure skating class.....wait i mean drift class. (just a joke)

i feel like 5 classes spreads the field out too much....more competition with bigger fields in each class should be the goal. maybe get rid of street class and just do enthusiast, modified, and unlimted.

Drift class is sompletely different category, to me it has nothing to do with road racing. I feel that street class should exist too, it's a class for guys with money and some sponsorship, where mod - no way you're winning with some big vendor support and a lot of money

The rules are pretty much the same except for the enthusiast/stock class. Which was destined to change... and the addition for an extinguisher for all classes...

2-9.2 All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher mounted within reach of the driver while normally seated. The mounting bracket must be securely fastened to the vehicle and made of metal with a quick release type mechanism. Plastic and aerosol type cans are prohibited.

but this rule bothers me because I use a Schroth ASM harness with my stock seat...

2-8.2 If a fixed back race seat, adjustable back race seat, or an OEM seat is used in conjunction with a race harness a harness bar or roll cage/roll bar is required.

sweet. nothing out of the ordinary... NASA TT and redline are nearly identical on many of the rules.

Better - but still a little light in true technical requirements.

the less requirements, the more engineering freedom although i have to admit, i was seriously considering a sucker car, but its actually called out specifically now. still definitely going to place with active aero though. nothing like a huge air brake on the rear of the car

Pretty wide open ruleset - as always.

It's still just really the tires as the main separator of the classes imo.

The "Enthusiast" class seems like a perfect fit for my car the way it is right now so I'm happy, I should be competitive there. I think they could have come up with a better name for it (I don't know what was wrong with stock) but thats not a big deal really. I'm only concerned that there's only three east coast events on the tentative 2010 schedule and only one that's within a reasonable distance for me. Looks like I'll either be traveling a lot to race or racing somewhere else.

agreed. makes it pretty unattractive to be honest for someone who's starting out, isn't sponsored or doesn't have tons of money, although now the enthusiast class should be okay.

Your welcome everyone hahaha JK.
I named the Enthusiast class because there was alot of confusion with the "stock" moniker.
We also fought tooth and nail to get some rules changed and have some stay...
What does everyone think of allowing lips and aftermarket steering wheels.
I have both, I dont feel like ripping them off and dont see any real performance gain either.
