I really don't understand how someone can argue that the driver wasn't in the wrong here. Sure the spectators were stupid, there's no denying that, but that doesn't excuse the driver's actions. If you hit a child on the highway, do you simply shrug it off and say "well he shouldn't have been on the highway so I'll just leave"? I doubt it. I completely agree with Rob, the driver should never be allowed to race again. If he cares so little about other people that he doesn't even stop to see if he can do anything, he's a danger to himself, the other competitors, the spectators and the sport as a whole.
