Goodyear Eagle RS

Has anyone on here tried these out? Especially if you have compared them to Hoosier Rs and As on a road coarse.

Thanks, Marty

This is going to be a great battle between Goodyear and Hoosier! NASA announced contingency awards from Goodyear, Hoosier and Yokohama. I have supported Hoosier for the last few years but I am anticipating good information from Goodyear competitors. We shall know later in the season as results are posted. Goodyear use to be the top DOT race tire in the 90's when the BFG R1 was the popular choice. Back then the Goodyear GS was by far the most expensive and fastest DOT race tire available.

Yeah, but not for TT.

I'm sticking with the purple crack this year again; c'mon contingencies!

There is a thread on the NASA ST/SU forum about this. Like apex; people are optimistic but no first hand experience that I recall.

I was told that the compound is somewhere between a Hoosier R and A (kinda like the Kumho), I am going to test them both out in my upcoming double race at VIR so I should be able to give an idea of what the deal is. I will be testing them against Hoosier As for both qual and race. Obviously the As should be faster for qual and early in the race, the interesting data should be what happens the last half of the race. Goodyear is planning on making an autocross version soon and in different sizes. Ill be pushing for 255/40/17s (the widest allowed by the scca and they still fit on 8 inch rims).

They performed pretty much like I was told they would. They are pretty much like a Hoosier R but maybe a tick faster. The good part is they don't fall off late in the race. They are clearly not as quick as Hoosier As. So, to me they are basically a wash with the Hoosier Rs.

Which compound did you try? I am going to try this set out for autox and get the softer compound in 295/30/18. I will post up after I get a couple events under my belt with them.

I can't wait to try these out, after seeing some cars do really well on them over the past weekend I am hoping they will turn out faster laps than the A6's
