I've heard that you can make the fans "stay on" in the ECU as well. There is also a pin route, as well as a relay route for the OEM fan setup if you want. I'm not an expert on those details however. But yes for an aftermarket fan such as my case i'm direct wired. You can tell the difference between when it's running just on Batteries and when the Alternator is powering it, the more juice available the merrier.

Mounted the same way the rad is, with "through core" nylon zip ties. Great thing about the ones FanMan offers is they are thin enough that you don't have to spread the fins any but it holds very well. I won't know until after the 12th as my first session out with this, but i'll need the full season to tell for sure if it helps or if it's a restriction.

So you are giving up a few of your precious horse powers to the alternator then... hehe

I doubt it, running at 14.3 volts vs 12.9 volts is a big diff, so when the engines on she's fine. All else fails when it gets retuned and we detect a voltage drop, we can install that 120amp alternator someone on here makes.

I meant the extra draw on the alternator to run the fans will rob you of HP ... and it was a joke as I know it is rather insignificant

Your oil cooler fan just might work on the Trans cooler for the X MR / SE as a less expensive option than an upgraded oil cooler...Hmmmm

Doh, was still in work mode, can't believe I fell for that . Yes running your car with your radio on takes away hp and MPG! Should do a top gear episode

I will be taking a break from road racing this summer and focus on engine cooling I'll most likely be contacting CBRD for a radiator sometime in the early summer

You're going to stop road racing until you get a radiator or stop road racing all together and still get a radiator? If it's the latter, why would you upgrade a radiator for a car that won't be tracked?

LOL let me rephrase that.......I am going to stop road racing for THIS SUMMER only, so I can use the money that I normally use for events, maintenance, etc etc and use it to fund some cooling upgrades like a double pass time attack radiator from CBRD. I might upgrade the oil cooler to a larger seatrab as well What brand thermostats do you guys use if you do upgrade them?

Haha I figured you meant something like that.

I'd like to know the thermostat answer as well. I had to gut mine last time at the track as an emergency fix. I'll be needing a replacement.

Update: Well it deff worked. In Jan with temps in the low 70's and track around 90's we saw water temps of 220's and oil temps of 240's. NOW, it was mid 70's and the track was around 110deg. Water temps didn't go above 195 and oil temp didn't go past 228!. This was beating the hell out of it and shifting ~7800rpm on the stock motor. I have to say these fans, esp the 13" one, work VERY well.
