Anyone that can rebuild Ohlins?

Hey fellow motorheads... I have a problem, I have a broken coilover. Loud clunks came from the driver's side front suspension, so I swapped in my factory jobbers and noise is gone, BUT....

They are Ohlins DFV's with Paul Gerrard spec valving. From the people I could talk to on the phone, it sounds like a probably blew a seal or valve.

What does this mean? I've been trying to locate someone in the Portland/Seattle area that can rebuild Ohlins, but I haven't had any luck. Does anyone know of a shop locally that can do Ohlins?

Also, what's the chances I've damaged a valve internally? I don't know if I can even get replacement valves with the same spec anymore. I bought them 2nd hand from the Robispec guys, I believe they originally came from Vishnu but I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly apprechiated as track days are quickly approahing for the 2011 season!

I have the same Ohlins that I bought used from a friend, and had a similar clunking noise. Performance Shock (http://performanceshock.com/) rebuilt them for me. A normal rebuild isn't too costly, but in my case they had to order some parts which apparently were out of stock in the US so had to be shipped from Japan. That meant that it took almost two months. I know they aren't local to you, but I was very happy with their service and they were very helpful in answering all of my questions. Talk to Thomas or Andrew.

PM me if you want more details.

RKT does it too in the TRI state area. They do it years now on the pretty successful cars ...

Japanese "Ohlins" are different from the real ones. The Japanese Carrozzeria versions have no valve with which to recharge the gas and need to be fitted with one to have an Ohlins dealer properly service them.

Exactly what the guy at Performance Shock said. It could be a couple of months depending on what parts need to be ordered.

They'll need schrader valves and fittings. The good news is that the first time will be the most expensive time and then after that it will cost less given that they're already converted. We use AMF Motorsports in NH.

If thats the case, then what are companies doing to revalve them? Since this are "custom" Gerrard spec, does that mean they would already have the schraeder valve fitted?

My Flags don't have a schrader valve and they've been to 2 different Ohlins shops. No issue with revalve or recharging nitrogen. They have a special diaphragm that uses a needle for the gas charge. Maybe the DFV's are different.

These are the guys I am planning on sending my flags for custom valving. Where you happy with their service?
