Bump -

Any other thoughts on this? Getting closer to actually doing it.

Mostly I am just trying to think of any other little quirks I'd have to take care of to make sure it's a total conversion, i.e. totally STU legal.

This seems to be the biggest thread on the topic
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ap-thread.html

Thanks
John

I didn't see it listed in other posts, but unless the MR SE already has it, you would need (however trivial it may be ) the SE badge. Other than that, I think you have listed everything needed for the conversion.

If I were you, I would write a letter to the rule makes explaining things the best you can and ask for comments/confirmation. Lots of things you mentioned are either legal to swap anyway (sets for example) and some others (like badges) I would leave to find out who is a scumbag that would actually protest you for that!

Also, glad to see this info here for anyone who might be inclined to do the same!!

Nope. Badges would fall under "comfort and convenience", so you wouldn't need to worry about that.

^ This. Badges can be changed in Street class too. Remember folks this isn't "Stock" anymore.

I know what the rules are - you can do a conversion but it has to be a total package conversion minus allowances. I'm just trying to figure out if there are any strange little quirks to the conversion.

I think this is the summary of the stuff I would need to do, starting with an MR "SE" to turn it into an SE for STU:
* Swap my 6-speed for the 5-speed (including shifter cables, plastic console, speedo gear, etc) (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ap-thread.html)
* Remove the MR brake ducts (no allowance)

This is what I'd have to do to fully convert it, but that I don't need to do for STU legality:
* Remove MR badges, replace with SE badges (badge allowance)
* Remove Bilsteins, replace with KYBs (shock allowance)
* Remove CF ebrake handle (C&C)
* Remove OEM gauge pack (C&C)

Stuff that both the MR and MR "SE" have that not all Evos have
* aluminum roof (RSs have this too)
* SE lip / zero lift thing / bigger undertray
* gurney flap on the rear wing
* red stitched seats
* diamond black BBS's (not gray)

Not sure...
* Remove the MR vortex generators (need to read the ST* factory-replica-aero-thingy allowances)

It seems really straightforward. I just wish would have saved us all some trouble and just put the 5-speed in everything
