Rumor is PPIHC is going to be moved to later in the Summer for 2012. Any rumors about MWHC coming back again next summer?

They don't say that loudly, but you kind of guessing it . The event was awesome , even thought the videos doesn't show very technical. If I have to guess , I would say the. MWHC will be back.

after 4 minutes Jeremy - Alex and me appear

I'm not to sure. I heard both yes and no from a bunch of folks.

In closing 2011 Mt Washington, Climb to the Clouds 150th anniversary hill climb, my side of story:

We blew our engine at the spring PCA Porsche track event when i was trying to shake of some rust from myself. The future looked pretty dark for us. Also the car was in a very bad shape in several ends. As it happens with many teams, basically my wife and me were left alone . So we decided to not give up and keep doing what we love. RKT motors, Konstantine and Greg decided to helps us, and we started to see the future brighter. On top of that, from my country of origin /Hungary/ we also got helping hands to get the car together and put us back on the road. Thanks for that guys ! www.Dynoproject.hu and www.Evoklub.hu /Miki!!!

So the car and our team's new era has started. We were planning to debut the car in the 2011 NEFR with Rally America, but we needed a test before that event happens. We boldly picked the restarted Mt Washington hill climb to be our first event. Of course we had zero idea about the event, how prestige it is actually. Never mind the racers who will or would like to run it. So we did send our entry application in, and when we got an answer, just hold on you are not in, we will decide who can run it, then we started thinking and really looking into this event. I have to say i was really shocked by the entry list. We started to look around to see what we can run, since i was 100% sure we will not run this event. They will not accept us. Then one day we got our acceptance... As far as we thought, for us this is already a win situation and to run an event like this and someone actually believing in us . RKT Motors started working on our car double time, to make sure we will finish the car before the event. Because my low self-esteem in this case/only/ lead us to have no time to try or even drive my car before the event. I actually just wanted to make sure that everything is in its place in the car and everything is tight + the new tune and ECU etc.

I did enter to a local AutoX event for a little check up. Just to make sure everything is working properly and securely. Let me tell you, it was FUN ! We didn't score, and i barely found my exit in the parking lot, because of those cones ... but the car worked!!! First time ever drove in this car with new brake pads, pedal-box combo, new engine - new springs and suspension set up- new tires- new engine etc. The car was basically brand new. It was literally overwhelming, but in a good way. I did test and ran the car around 4 miles and approx 6 minutes! What a great feeling, after a year pause behind a steering wheel.

So we were very exited for this Mt Washington event. My parents also came from Hungary just to see us, and our restarted - rebuild team and car race! As you can guess it, i wasn't really nervous at all. Then we packed - left New Jersey for the race.

NH - Mt Washington is beautiful, everyone should go there at least once. I am not biased. There we got our place, and the next day we did go out to see the mountain at the first time ever. We were allowed to drive up there but only 15mph max speed. I think when we got to the summit we made an oath; wont matter how we finish - how embarrassing it will be, we will not going fast in this road, period. There is no picture or video will ever give you an honest feedback on that road. If that wasn't enough i started to see the competitors moving in.... As i recall it that day, it ran through my mind a couple of times, this is not exactly the place or the race where you want to try and test your new car, specially when you never drove on those tires in your whole life neither with the car or on this road. Never mind we didn't even race or drove one year. But then i looked in Zsanett's eye , and i saw the same, i though ,"hey i am not alone with this " LOL Then Konstantine and Greg came /RKT Motors/ and the whole thing changed form school kid to something more serious and calm. I think that was the first time i actually did started thinking, this is a race and not a vacation. We were all excited and ready the first practice day.

First practice day Friday:

We got to the mountain and we started to get ready. Car started, sounded happy , so we did roll to the start grid and just like a bling we got a green light. After our first run /lower half for practice/ we did finish 30th place and i was happy the car worked and i started to feel the tires.

Quote for Friday's results:
30 R1 7 71 R. Martai/F. Sannett 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4:54.64 0:00.41 4:54.64 4:56.07

I think everybody was glad we didn't crashed or nothing happened with a car. I thought we are on the dot in this level of competitors. Also we made new friends, Chris and Shara Duplessis are awesome!!!!

(my mom was crying at the start line , she thought we were way to fast for this road )

One video from inside for our second practice run:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTKUjfgam1g

Saturday practice:

Saturday was rainy, and no go - no practice, for the upper half, which was the scariest part of the mountain for us. So we concentrated on our driving -co driving skills, and i was trying to learn as much as i can about the car's behavior. It was not a big help, tires, they were very soft - dry tires, bad choice for rain. We decided to not cut them or slice them, since the weather forecast forcasted good, sunny weather for Sunday the race day. So we did run a complete dry set up in the rain hoping the best. Then a miracle happened for us! Our time got better and better literally every single run. At the end of the day we were very happy with the results. If we can keep the results of this day for a race day, then we over accomplished our goal by far. We were actually, after the practice day, 2nd place in our category, and the 3rd fastest rally car in the field!! Also we did step 13th place ahead in the field! We were overwhelmed by that. There was a fire works and live concerts , but we couldn't go there, that's how exited we were.

Quote of the Saturday practice results:
15 R1 1 48 C. Kearney/M. McAllister 1995 Subaru STI 4:12.47 0:03.05 4:35.76 4:12.47
16 R2 1 70 C. Duplessis/S. Trask 2011 Ford Fiesta R2 4:12.95 0:00.48 4:22.87 4:12.95
17 R1 2 71 R. Martai/F. Sannett 2008 Mitsubishi Evo X 4:15.45 0:02.50 4:19.72 4:15.45

Sunday RACE day:

I cant really describe how i felt or what i experienced there. Here it is in a nutshell. We did line up and we got a green light. Sure before that Konstantine and Greg tweaked a little on the suspension, based on my feedback . So there we were, green light for a full course with no practice, never drove with a car on the upper half. The gravel section was soaked by water a day before and i never drove these tires on the gravel on top of that. We had to make it safe . And we did. Then on the top we ran into a huge problem. This was Zsanett's 5th race so to make it easy for her, we decided not add distances into the pace notes. Instead, we marked each corner with something unique, either with a check point number or a landmark. So as soon as we left the gravel section we literally ran into the clouds. After a couple of hundred feet, because of the fog, she got lost and she called one left #2 too soon. She realized that, but we couldn't see any markings we had in the pace notes on the side of the road. They were gone in the fog. I was driving 3rd gear to second gear continuously, waiting for the left 2 turn. It was a scary moment since we had no clue were we were, never mind our first full run in the course. But i thought, hey we still have one more run. When we rolled down on the road i said Zsanett no worries, she did great. But i thought we lost a hell of a lot time up there. Then at the base camp they did send us to re-inspection (good sign). They found nothing, then we got the news, we actually did finish 1st place in our category! Now that is where i started to feel like i was in a fairy tale, so as Zsanett. There is nothing like seeing her eyes like that, after sooo many things that happened with us.

Video first run:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YYba8hnG68

Back to the paddock , everybody is smiling, everybody is happy, Konstantine made me BBQ . It was awesome!

2nd run

Basically we lined up and tried to make the same run what we did before. The only difference was , now we saw the upper half once already with a car and the tires. We came back and we couldn't believe, we've WON. Not only that, but the whole weekend we did run faster times every single time we did run this mountain! The second run was actually 25+ sec faster! We did finish this event in 1st place in our category; the same time overall, we were the fastest Rally car also at this event. Altogether, we finished 12th place, which was beyond our wildest hopes.

The finishing order of the 2011 Mt Washington CTTC hill climb race:

This has to be one of the greatest accomplishments that anyone from our community has had since I've been here....We have a lot of great and very successful drivers that frequent the forums but in my opinion, this victory has to be one of the best; incredible accomplishment in an environment where one mistake can lead to catastrophic and unthinkable outcomes...

Great recap Rob! I was very impressed by you and your wife taking the rally class win. Great job!

One thing Rob forgot to put into his story is how much of a great sportsman he is. He was one of the first poeple to come over once my wrecked car was brought down off the hill. He then offered up any help and the help of his awsome RKT Motors http://www.rktmotors.com/Contact.html team. Without their help with suppyling us with spare evo parts. (a whole truck full of evo parts) i would have never made race day. So a huge thanks again!!!!!

There were alot of people that helped me get back on the hill. Mike Sabina (mitsumaster), Javier Dalago, Randy Hale and Warren Elliott.

The Course.

This truly is one of the most historic races in all of the US. It is beyond words to explain the magnitude of this hillclimb and the challange that it is to race such a extreme road. Just to have been a part of this event is a memory that will last a life time.
