Low Tech Nerd Data

Inspried by the cool GPS data posted by the guys with traqmate's in the other thread in here, I had an idea. I know I cut right at 4 seconds off my lap time between my first trip to RA last fall and my second one this spring. So I did a little video editing to create a side-by-side of the best laps from each visit (at least the ones I had on tape). Vid starts from turn 1 entry beacuse when you are lowly DE3 puke like me, you take clean laps where you find them

I was wondering id there was any particular area where I picked up the time. What I see is little bits and pieces all around the track with no particular thing being a greater part of the time shaving than anything else.

Those of you without traqmate, but with video might try this. Traqmate data is definately better, but until I can spring for one, this is a viable option.

Cool video. That's a nice way to compare how your doing. Nice thinking!

And hey... 'low-tech' or not...still gets the job done

Your transition through T2-3 was much better. You made it one turn instead of two.

You were much tighter to the gators through the esses.

You were on the gas much sooner out of 10b and carried more speed through 12.

I think a lot of the improvement was being more comfortable with the track and having your eyes up more.

You lost a little bit of time through 5 though, a little late on the turn in and you can use a lot more of the track on exit.

Don't know if you saw the video by King Tut on the NASA forums, but he followed me for a whole lap (1st green flag lap) and you can see my line through 5. Don't know how your suspension will like my apex on the turn but you can see how much room you have to track out.

If possible in June I'd love to take a ride with you or give you a ride along and show you a few different lines if your interested.

You're on! Turn 5 is something I have driven a few different ways. If I let the car track out to 4-wheels on the gators, it is very hard to hold full throttle and I have to sorta do the maintenance throuttle thing. Full throttle and with all 4 wheels boucing across the gators the car gets very sktechy (loose). As long as I leave the inner two wheels off the gator, I can just keep it on the floor. But I do need to carry more speed through it for sure. I haven't even started trying to adjust the new coilovers yet. Just set them at midpoint and drove the car that way for the weekend to get a feel for them.
