There is several reasons why officials dish out penalties for cutting at Targa.

Ya loose stuff indeed, looks like he had it then panic set in and he flogged the wheel too much. Sucks . Interesting to watch the "death of a sign" in the slomo replay lol.

The boys were very, very lucky.Have a look at the same stage from the year before from the eventual rally winners.Make note of the cliff faces and how close they are, then the speed of the STI......5th/6th gear.....200KM/h and a little better.....

The old tank slapper.. most of the time just staying in some or alot of throttle pulls me out of issues like this (which has happened only a couple of times in 7yrs of awd driving).

Dam! lookd like he had it after the first correction, maybe he counter steerd way more than he should of when the car started going the other way.

Looks more like weight transfer got the best of him. Someone else mentioned it above, too. More throttle and less panic would have saved him, most likely.

Oh well, the driver and co-driver were okay so that's all that matters.

that car looks very very loose on this video. That wasn't any major cut or anything even slightly close, to make this happen.
i am not even sure he tried to correct it with a left foot. Looks to me he just rely on steering and lifting throttle...
I wasnt there so i really cant judge it, besides who i am to do that anyway.

Just i want to say, that cut wasnt even dangerous.

these are more interesting cuts LOL

cutting is a very important and great technique in rally. The ditch hooking is even better LOL
i cant see the point to get penalty for cutting and how is actually gets judged...
