Friday Practice: Canadian GP

Kobay just a few tenths off of Hamilton, fastest as of this hour...also eliminating hole in RB floor does not appear to B that significant but probably due to lack of high speed turns at this circuit...flat out with dead slow turns.

Later, Ken

Some interesting results from the 2nd practice. Anyone else notice Schumacher not even using the DRS, including down the straights? Looks to me like they're sandbagging quite a bit. Is DRS worth 4+ tenths is the question, but I would bet that's a yes in Montreal.

P.S. As long as Sauber remains irrelevent, then nobody else is going to care about their results, so you can probably refrain from mentioning them Ken.

We expect an in depth race report from you as well as pictures from the Ile Notre Dame circuit. I sure envy you. This is one race I would dearly love to attend. So picturesque and the track offers a lot of excitement. BTW, how are the spectating areas?

Lots of losing grip in braking areas. See if they get it dialed in.

Looks like I wasn't too far off on my prediction for quali except for Kimi:

1) VET
2) HAM
3) ALO
4) WEB

For the race, I'm thinking RBR 1-2 and ALO P3

1) VET
2) WEB
3) ALO

Really...well UR boy Button did not come in third as U predicted....rather 10th and was slower than Kobay's time in Q2...so I would say UR "irrelevent" comment seems to have fallen to the same level as UR predictions...the race begins tomorrow and lets hope the bumper car boys R quite after the lights.

Hahaha I'll be posting plenty of pics. It's beyond words man, the island itself is just beautiful, walking through the venue with the cars in the support races going by is a great experience just in itself not to mention seeing F1 live. Alonso, Hamilton, and Vettel are the most popular drivers for sure, everyone freaks out when they come out of the pits at the start of a session. Spectating areas are very good, lots of visibility, at least where I'm at, here's two pics of my view, this was on Friday early morning just after the track opened up at 8AM, you can see all the way down to the wall of champions and the pit lane and get a pretty good view of the exit of turn 2, lots of oversteer through there:

Here's one from quali today

I'll post up some vids when I get back home since the internet connection kinda blows here.

Mercedes messed up on the timing of Michaels quali lap, he didn't make the line in time, off by 3 seconds. If he did I would say he could've made top 5.

Can't wait for the race tomorrow, I'm gonna say Hamilton pulls it off but I'm a McLaren fan so I'm biased

Great pics there bro. Looks like so much fun. Should be a good battle between Lewis and Seb. Looking forward to all your pics when you get back home.

Don't deflect Ken. My boy Button? Are you really comparing Sauber's pace to that of the McLaren? If so, that's not even funny. Yeah Button is starting 10th, but his teammate is starting on the front row! Sorry, but Sauber IS irrelevent, and nobody really cares to hear about how they're performing but you.

^ This man speaks the truth. I applaud Sauber for the great effort they have done this year, but truth be told, they are with Force India and Williams when it comes to competitiveness. And Kobay needs to learn to put together more than just a few good turns or even a single lap before he is in the top 10. McLaren will get Button sorted out just like RB got Seb back on pace.

True...I don't mind being a fan boy of one...at least I'm not going with the teams with the most $$$...recall the little engine that could..." I think I can, I think I can"... and that little team U R denegrading did get one podium this year ahead of the mega bucks McLaren despite all the lack of $$$ and all it buys...it appears that that result has hit U hard and will take time to resolve...and yes, it was achieved, not in a downpour but during dry conditions.
