Evodynamics Racing results and pic/vid thread!
This Last weekend was the first for our NASA season at Motorsports ranch in houston. it was a two day event with one of the biggest TT turnouts in NASA-texas history. there were 38 cars registered for TT.
for us, we had 3 cars running in TT, and 2 cars running in HPDE4 looking to get TT licenses.
Josh (666_evo) ran his Evo X in TTA. Joshs car was unchanged from last year because he was very happy with the setup. in fact, he was even running on the tires he used in the last event last year as well. 275 hoosier R6 tires. on saturday, Josh was the quickest the entire day for TTA. Josh Ran a 1:44.588 in the first session after a crazy qualifying session where all 38 cars were out at once (and lets just say madness ensued). Josh had no compaints, and worked his line by studying the traqmate data after each session.
on Sunday, the competition stepped up a bit, after the first session josh was in 4th place with his transfercase drain plug falling out midway through the session. of course fluid was burning on the exhaust making it look much worse then it was, but he immediately came off and we rushed to find a replacement plug and clean it all off. as i was removing his undertray, the plug fell to the ground
, and the MSR-H shop had redline shockproof we purchased to refill it. after about an hour of cleaning, josh was back on the road running for the next session where he set FTD with a 1:42.914. Josh held on to first, running the rest of the sessions very short (3-4 laps each), just to see if conditions were improving and to make sure he was out there if they did. he was pretty consistant with his times around low 1:43.xxx but never improved.
results were two first places, and the track record for TTA!!

Jim (TXEvo8) also ran TTA with his evo 8. Jim unfortunately was a victim of the hoosier 255 rule change. we made the decision to go smaller with the 245 R6. also at the last race last year he threw a rod after setting the track record so he was on a new motor setup, with a slight change in parts making significantly more power (it is actually de-tuned to stay within the allowable TTA power/weight ratio). Day one showed some teething issues being the first day out with everything back together. after coming off the track on the qualifying session i noticed the downpipe was rubbing on the oil pan, and it was actually dripping slowly. it had actually wore a hole in it
. i quickly removed the downpipe and we pushed the car to the shop who had a welder. we drained the fluid, cleaned the area, and their mechanic filled the hole for us
huge thanks to him, even though we were getting upset by how slow he worked (granted every 2 seconds people were asking him questions). we missed the second session while getting this repaired. once it was back to our pit area, i noticed it was leaking from the oil pan in a difference spot as well, unrelated to the downpipe hole. confused as to why it was leaking there, i grabbed the JB quick and set to patch the hole. after 2 layers it wasn't leaking anymore and jim was good to go for the 3rd session! halfway through, we noticed he wasn't going around anymore, and the tow truck was pulling him in. the lower IC pipe popped off
Jim hasn't had much luck lately. we get to the pits again and tighten everything up to the point of breaking, and on the last session jim ran great, jumping from 5th place to 2nd with a 1:44.980, about 4 tenths behind josh in first.
Sunday was much better for Jim as the entire day we didn't have a single issue. however we seemed to reach the limit of the tires or have a suspension issue (car looked way to soft with a LOT of body roll). MSR has a huge 90mph 180deg carousel turn where jim was loosing ground big time. down the straights he was the fastest no question though. unfortunately in the last session a new e92 M3 jumped jim for 3rd place by 8 hundredths of a second.
Jim had 2nd and 4th for the weekend with some ideas of what to do for next race.

Todd (Todd06Mr) ran his evo 8 in TTC which we have spent the last 4 months dialing in.
on saturday, there were 3 TTC cars, one being his primary competition in a well modified WRX on hoosier R6 tires. Todd is faster in a straight line, but in the corners the WRX walked away like he didn't have to slow down. its obvious we need more grip in the evo with a different tire setup to be competitive. Todd finished the Day in first because the WRX broke after the qualifying session so he wasn't able to post a time. the third place car was a porsche 944. excluding the WRXs qualifying time, Todd beat the track record for TTC, which was 1:51.574 set in '09, on saturday with a 1:51.249.
on sunday todd ran faster but the WRX after missing all of saturday was fixed and showed us who was boss in TTC
he was close to us with his R6 tires, running a 1:49.xxx to todds 1:50.xxx, but with two sessions to go he swapped over to A6's and ran a 1:47.7
. that does give us a good benchmark though to trying to keep up with him. we know we need another 2.5-3 seconds to beat him. we have some ideas for next race too
fortunately MSR-C is our home track and todd has a lot of experience there, plus it favors higher HP cars slightly more then MSR-H did.

Josh #2 has been running with us the last couple of events looking to get his TT license. He runs an evo 9 with basic bolt ons making great power and will fall into the TTA class once hes ready. saturday was a great day for him. no issues, and learned the track to post some good times with the dead A048 tires he had.
sunday morning in the second session he got his ride along and got his provisional TT license!! he ran with the TT group in the afternoon and is now looking to setup the car to the class for the next race.

Jeff (jtk968) was also running in HPDE 4 on saturday in his evo XMR looking to get his TT license. Jeff also ran a trouble free weekend, and using his track logger on his phone to improve his time over saturday. sunday also in the second session he got his ride along and also got his provisional TT license!! Jeff did cord his tires in the last session on sunday, but he knew they were close to being dead, so he pulled off, and has his new R6s ready for MSR cression in march

What a great weekend!! Congrats to Josh and Todd for their wins and to Josh and Jeff for their signoffs. Also a HUGE thanks to KevinD, Virgil, Caleb, and all the racers at EvoD for a fantastic team effort. More good things to come from EvoD racing!!
Had a great time and I couldn't be happier with the car! Now all I have to do is beat that pesky Subaru. Damn '02 WRX starts out in TTD (I'm in TTC**) so he gets lots of mods. But I thinkg I can get him.
I'm in the process of pre-production editing. It takes a long time to go through and sync 4.5 hours of video. Especially when you have never done it before.

he was running HPDE4 as well, but i don't recall if he got the ride along for his TT license.
brandon got this picture as we were packing up to leave too
