I ran grooved slicks.
I don't have a crew to check that stuff, so I have no clue on temps and pressures.
Depends on the year, but typically 30-40 degrees.

*****Hopefully this post did not offend the moderators of this forum. It appears that years of knowledge gained from active participation in real motorsports and understanding of safety equipment should be awarded not with some "thanks for your opinion" attitude, but rather with "you've been slapped with points from the ban hammer."*****

Congrats on the finish, that is moving!

I wasn't able to get much heat into them at all during the practice runs (early mornings, cold air, colder ground, less than 4 miles to run), but on race day about 5 minutes after making the summit (last 2 minutes of the run on wet ground), I was really surprised to find they were still HOT.
Rob - I did do some tire temp and pressure stuff, but none of it was at the top of any runs. We tried to shoot for 32f/30r hot pressures (no idea how close we got). For tire temps, I tried waving the car back and forth for the last 3/4 mile on the way down in the middle section one morning. Took me ~2 minutes to find my crappy harborfreight infared gun and it measured a whopping 80 degrees....and yes, that's intentionally missing a 1 in front.

Dave, congrats again on your fine finish. Keep up the great work. I hope to meet you on the hill some day as a fellow competitor, but if not at least as a fan/spectator.
The tire you mentioned - none of my friends in the AX/TT have used that tire. Can you tell me your thoughts/comparisons of that tire vs. something like a DOT Hoosier A6/R6 or an RA1/NT01?
What is the overall height of that tire? For comparison, I believe a 285-30-18 A6 is about 24.9 inches tall. . .
Thanks!!

The 275s are a different tire from my understanding. Those are from the Sports Car Challenge series, while the ones I'm running are from the GT Cup. There was a subie running the 245 ones this year, but I don't think the driver was pushing too hard.
I'm not as familiar with the CSCC tires, but I think those are molded in the same molds as the A6 and R6 whereas the GT ones are full slicks. Another interesting thing is that the rain tires are completely different for the 275 vs 285.

Correct - the cool thing about tires measured this way is the "potential" to run different widths front and rear.
They are GP tires, not DOT legal but supposedly for endurance races. I've been having a hard time finding much information on them (Bought them as takeoffs) I figured they're the same tire, but I saw the same thing as you on Continental's site, 275's listed differently than the 285's. I just don't know if those are 'my' tires or not...
One thing to note is that Continental did release a new compound this year called the GT-R (for road). In 2011 there was just the GT tire, which is now called the GT-O (for oval). I don't know if they've made any changes to the offerings for the CTSC classes. Here's links for those that are curious:

Agreed with the other posts. If you got penalized for your comment we know its ridiculous. Unfortunately, by penalizing you for speaking the truth in that situation theyre only hurting Evolutionm because it trivializes the quality of this forum.
Thanks guys!
The event was on Wednesday, spent yesterday driving home, and this morning sleeping it off. I have confirmed that I've got front & rear facing video of our last (fastest) session, so I will try to get something edited up i the next few days.
As this was my first trip to the track, one quick view of my footage revealed many places to make up time. Unfortunately a suprise mechanical condition stole any free time I had and prevented me from viewing session video and data. So while not terribly happy with my driving and bummed by the fact that some of the fast guys "mechanical'd out", I'm still thrilled with the win.
