Depending on how fast you learn and get comfortable adding speed, you will begin the series of transitions all of us who track these wonderful beasts go through on brakes.

Personally I like a very aggresive pad and being able to generate a lot of braking with light-moderate pedal force. Part of this is because I use the 'rocker side-to-side' method of toe-heel downshifts (size 14-4E foot). If I am really having to mash the pedal hard to get the braking force I want, I struggle blipping the throttle.

Run balanced pads front/back. These cars are heavily biased on the front brakes. Running unbalanced only makes it worse. I ran split pads (Carbo XP12's F and XP10's R) for a good while. Went to 12/12 and the car behaved much better. No problems trail braking and the nosedive on hard barking was not nearly as extreme.

I'm running DTC70's now, but that is with Hoosiers in TT. They would overwhelm something like star-specs. I really liked the Carbo xp10's with something line star-specs, maybe even xp12's with good control.

just figured id update...

i ran lime rock yesterday. 60 track miles over 3 sessions using rc5+ front and stop tech stree rear, super blue fluid (not fresh), no cooling ducts, stock 50k mile rotors.

after getting the initial first track day jitters out, i actually worked the brakes a little. never felt any change in pedal feel except for what felt to be due to pad wearing. had a solid pedal all day, and the brakes did a great job slowing from about 110 to 70 or less into turn one.

just looking at the outer pad, it almost looks like there is no pad material missing. it definitely is nice to know the brakes are there every corner.

unfortunately i ran out of tire....
