2012 Season Closer

Well I was sad to see some of our regulars sell or trade so I decided I'd dedicate this weekend to them Some of you may or may not remember my little incident back in April which tore the splitter off, the lip/bumper, and destroyed a wheel and tire by spinning sideways at an angle into the sand/dirt. Fast forward to a few weeks back I decided to try one of these replica Voltex bumpers that are selling so cheap. Got one from FDCarbon and well, you get what you pay for

Fit is so-so. Big gaps where the carbon headlight covers went on all sides so back to sealing gaps with Duct Tape . Also the cutout for the wheels is about 1.5 inches short for those of you running tons of caster and big rubber. The undertray part leaves something to be desired because it's flimsy as hell being 1 layer fiberglass like 100% of the rest of the bumper so only really for looks as it sits but figured we'd try it anyway. My new startup shop, TR3 Performance, put the wrench time in getting it square and buttoning up the rest that I broke last April.

Octoberfast arrival was late Friday, got everything unloaded in the sprinkle/rain, for some reason the Earth is confused and decided October is really July. 94 Degrees and raining, . Saturday morning practice session I get about 2 laps in and suddenly hear the bumper or tray going FWAP, FWAP, FWAP, FWAP, especially under hard braking, get the Meatball flag and my brake hose is dragging. Awesome but expected right. Back in the pit the old man and I go at it with an assortment of zip ties, dremel work, new brake hose, and more zip ties. Missed qualifying but no biggie I can make it up.

This weekend was rather interesting because we had Practice, Qualifying, combined all groups race 1, race 2, then a 2 hour enduro (sat only) while Sunday same deal but add an Autocross going on behind us into the mix. So race 1 I made up a lot of ground but the results were nullified by so many people passing under yellow at the start finish line. There was some confusion for sure but that's racing, however as a result I had to start from the back again because we went by qualifying time. Everything worked like a charm, car was strong, and I had fun. There was supposed to be another ST2 vette there but he dropped at the last minute. Video below:

Sunday same deal but I got 4th in qualifying so now we can have some fun with my infamous Thunderturd Roadster buddies. Seems they always make the Octoberfast event, and always cause trouble

This was also my first time on R6's, beforehand I always tried something sticker like A6's, Goodyear AC's, Hoosier R100 slicks, etc. Great tire but easy to overwhelm if you toss it around. Also ended up blowing out my ABS, again, and the front left shock which I'm pretty sure is from the original impact in April just hadden't given up until now. Videos to follow!
