Question Autocross basics questions

Is there a link online that explains autocross basics? I've never even been to one so I don't know what to expect. I'm interested in exploring it once I get my car but want to know a little something about it ahead of time. Thanks for any info on it.

p.s. I did a search for autocross and basics which yielded nothing so no "you should have searched" flames please.

Also take a peak at http://www.scca.com and find your region's website. They have lots of links there for you to look at.

I found the following page to be very useful before my first autocross:

http://www.jwtodd.com/mwcscc-ax/primer-steve.html

The maintainer of the page is an Evo owner, DC region 2003 A Stock champion, and member of these forums (jwtodd60).

Good luck with your autoXing, and have fun!

The first link is great for understanding what happens at an autocross. Keep in mind that every region is different though, but for the most part the people at the event will go out of their way. Some regions put on schools or have veterans that can help the newbies out on that day. Just ask for help. There are no dumb questions!

Yup... look under your region's scca website... call them...

I would first attend a school if there's one.... solo2 in socal offers
two school per year... at the school, there will be plenty of
instructors/classes to teach you to get the best of your car..
