I didn't kno there was a illigitimate form of rally racing. Lol. There are a few people on the forums that Rally race. We have Warren who is the SCCA rally cross national champion. (although maybe this is the illigitimate form your talking about). I kno Rob, Dave and a few others that I just don't their names that do stage rally. And in fact, I remember one of the x-games rally drivers was on here. (again, maybe this is the illigitimate form that you speak of)

Is there a specific question?

You should try rallycorss then. I just finished packing up the car for the race tomorrow. It's addictive.

I believe there were two women that ran a WRC event recently and recieved absolutely NO respect from the forums. Pretty sad actually!

You've got a couple of rallies in your home state where I'm sure they'd love a volunteer and you could learn more about the sport. Look into the Rallye de Paris and the Nocona Stomp (http://www.rallyengr.com/). Although TX is so giant those could still be pretty far away for you.

I'm trying to get more into stage rally, but started running rally-x events about 10 years ago and for the last 5 or 6 have been heavily into gravel hillclimbs in a rally-ish car (no restrictor).

Pikes Peak is my big event every summer and unfortunately they've paved it all, so its no longer got the rally feel to it....but its still one hell of a cool event. There are several guys on this forum headed out this summer to compete.

Awesome! Pretty sure you guys will be down near the startline, so be sure to swing by the pits.

Are you headed out for just race day, or making a bit of a vacation out of it and spending some time in Colorado?

Dave
