Hoosier A6 for HPDE day?
Hoosier A6 for HPDE day?
Sorry for all the threads in this section at once, but with a few events coming up at the same time, I need to know!
I just picked up some Hoosier A6's. My plan was to finish up the season Autocrossing, BUT there is a HPDE/Time Trial track day at my local track with COM in the middle of October that I want to do.
My question is, are the A6's okay for HPDE/road course? I know some guys use them in Time Attack events, but will they hold up for 20 min sessions? If not, I don't mind coming off the track early, but I'm seeing mixed reviews. Some saying they run them at HPDE's with no problems, and others saying they get real greasy real quick.
Just looking for some other Evo owners opinions! Thanks guys!

Depends on a lot of factors...like the track, weather, size, driver, and so forth. There is no point in running Hoosiers, or anything similar, if all or most of what you plan to do are HPDEs.
I think Jarrod maybe gets a weekend out of his A6s on his TTU car. A lot of the time trials guys use them instead of R6s. I usually run the Hankook c91, which is about as soft as an A6, at the track and I get about 2 days worth of use out of them before they cord.

Hm, okay. Well, thats good to know.
Maybe I could shorten up each of my sessions to make them last? If not, I could always order some R6's or some street tires for that day and then just store them until next year.
What do you guys think? R6 or r888?

For hpde r888, they will work in TT as well, but you will be giving up time to the hoosiers. The nice thing is they can go through a ton of heat cycles. Hoosiers will fall off ATLEAST 1-2 seconds after 10-12 heat cycles for most. It's all about what you want out of your track day and your budget. Want to go all out for 20-30 minute sessions? I'd suggest r888.
