Relocating the ACD Pump

Seems pretty easy to do, and moves weight off the heaviest corner.

The ACD line is about 15 feet long. Shortening the ACD line shouldn’t cause any problems would it?

Does the ACD pump generate a lot of heat? Its stock location sees plenty of cool air. I'll be placing the pump in the right-rear. Do I run cooling ducts?

Just wondering if anyone has gone through this and what issues they have ran into?

AFAIK it doesn't generate any heat.

I plan to take various temps of the pump at my spring testing day and see how much heat it generates. I'd assume it makes at least a little heat, and I'd assume that’s why they placed the ACD pump up front. Why would Mitsubishi not have put the pump in the trunk?

The pump by itself with fluid is probably about 15lbs. The brackets that hold the ACD are maybe 5lbs at most and can be tossed in the garbage. The only scales I have are my corner weighting scales and I borrowed them out this last weekend. I'll get some exact weights soon.

the evo X and the euro evos all have the acd pump in the rear. its not going to generate enough heat to cause any problems.

Yep, jdm and uk cars (ct9a) have the acd pump rear left underneath the car. If you didn't want to make a bracket, sure you could buy a uk spec oem one. Assuming the pump is the same? Ours run ayc rear diffs as standard, and have 3 outlets( I think) I blanked two to run a rs diff and keep acd.

Changing the length of the power steering lines effects the steering response so the length of the ACD lines could do the same.

As said above jdm /edm evos have the pump bolted to left hand side rear chassis leg and its piped from there so it wont be an issue

Power steering is a full looped system. the ACD is not. The ACD would work more like your brakes do.

if you look at R/T's thread, youll see that the length of the stock acd lines is ridiculous, it snakes all over the engine bay if i recall. it appeared that running a straight line to the back of the car was, in all honesty, not much longer than the stock lines.
