Laguna Seca and Thunderhill Videos from this weekend
Made a couple of videos from the Speedventures.net Laguna Seca and Thunderhill double header this past weekend. The laps weren't my fastest, but they were the first ones that popped up on the tape when I started converting last night. These are far from instructional so just watch them as you please and try not to make all of my same mistakes!
You guys that have never been to the track really needa get out there. It's really as easy as it looks.

Like ev8sive said, can you go into detail on the camera mount?

Yeah... I did play a lot of GT3. That was my first time at Laguna and first time out with the EVO and it wasn't too difficult to learn. There was time left everywhere, but who cares, it was Laguna Seca. I was just having the time of my life
Camera Mount:
Pretty much what you see in the pix is what you get. Here are some details on the parts.
Buy a 1"x1" piece of square steel thing with the holes in it from the hardware store. Mine came in a length of 4'. Cut it to whatever length you desire.
Buy some nylon spacers that are also around 1" in diameter (doesn't really matter). This is to space the piece of steel up to a height that is even with the rear seat cushion.
Buy some 1" plastic caps to cap off the square steel piece so you don't cut yourself when you're taking your camera on and off.
Buy a pivoting and swiveling camera mount at your local camera store. Mine as $15.95. You can also get ones that have a ball type so it can pivot in all different directions. Those are more expensive
Buy a 3/8" (I think) x 1 1/4" bolt to screw the camera mount onto your 1" piece of steel. (Take the camera mount to the hardware store with you so you can make sure you got the right bolt)
Buy a 12mm bolt that is around 2 1/4 to 3" in length. This will be the bolt you use to screw the 1" steel piece to the child seat bracket hole on the center of the rear deck lid.
I made the 1" steel piece a bit longer so it rests on the top of the rear seat cushion. This helps stablize the whole deal when going over bumps. It was also important that the camera sits further forward since the rear window may get in the way of bigger cameras.
I'll leave the pix up for future reference for anyone.

What kind of times did you run at Laguna? 1:30s in GT3 with a stock Mine's Evo. I am looking forward to someday running some laps at Laguna! Might have to take a position out in Spokane just to get closer.

I'm soooo jealous, that looks amazing.
I wish wish wish we had tracks like that or opportunities to drive all year round where I'm from. I'm pretty much relegated to attending SCCA events.
