R U Faster Than A Redneck ?
Hey there, I watch this show when im working out at the gym, i even made a status about your win on facebook:
"Watching R U Faster Than a Redneck on speed... that GT-R (600hp) humiliated that Camaro (+800hp)... goes to show horsepower ain't sh** w/o control."
I got to say the show is sooo biased to muscle cars though, and sometimes the comments the "rednecks" make are very, very, VERY stupid... like I used to live in Tennessee and I never ran into people like that...
Another episode that made me pretty upset was when the US Army soldier on the silver Subaru (315hp) was winning all the races... but on the last race they put him against a pro driver in a car with i belive more than +800HP? ... that was bull...
Well, congratulations on the win, I seriously loved watching that race.
And as far as the slap.. oh my god... the guy on the muscle car (i cannot remember if it was a challenger or a camaro) is an idiot... when someone is infront of you, you follow their line... jeeez... you learn that on Mario Kart... haha >_>

Todd's Evo did very well, but the rednecks both finished in the top-10 overall, which means they knocked off a bunch of very fast, well-prepared, well-driven cars.

Even though Todd did give up a lot of horsepower to some of the cars, he did have the advantage of both AWD and ABS, which most of the other cars in the field did not (although Stielow's '69 Camaro did have ABS). I think what was most-impressive about Todd's performance is that he more than held his own in both the autocross and Speed/Stop, against a heavily-modified GTR, that did have that common advantage. Even though a lot of folks gravitate toward how much horsepower a car has, I think Todd has proven that a car with reasonable power, that handles really well and is driven really well, can out-perform just about any high-horsepower car that is lacking in those other two attributes.

^ This. Spoken like someone who has seen some wheel to wheel racing. It was the BMW driver's fault.
Hey optimajim, the rules for the optima challange state it's for street cars and not race cars. Does that just mean I have to be registered for the street? I would have loved to enter but, I was thinking my car might be considered to much of a race car. (my wife is a JCI employee and I was able to attend the lunch you guys did at the office)
Dan, since you're just in Indiana, perhaps you'd be interested in adding Road America to your list of track times? We are filming our Faceoff event for TV as well, it's not wheel to wheel and you can sign up here.
jerdeitzel (and Dan), our events are for street-legal cars. You can find all the rules here.

We will look into this.
Dan
I had the opposite view in that. The BMW had the outside line and cut all the way in towards the apex. He didn't leave room for the other car on the inside thus the collision. It did look like the camaro was going in to hot regardless and even with the inside line available he would have pushed out into the wide line.
we could debate it all day tho haha.
i can def see it that way also, but i also think that the bmw had a clear lead into that corner and the camaro should have had no expectation to be left room being a half car behind, but i guess that also has to do with how short the race is.
we could debate it all day tho haha.
