Placement of Go-Pro?

This may be a dumb question, but how/where do you guys like to mount your Go-Pro cameras while on the track? I want to mount mine so that I can see what is happening inside the car, i.e. shifting/hand placement, as well as be able to see out the front windshield. I tried this last weekend by mounting the camera to the inside of the rear windshield....but the camera just focused on the inside of the car.

Any tips on mounts or locations?

I picked up a harness bar to use as a camera mount because I didn't like any of the window positions and I don't have a sunroof (because racecar).

You can always fab up something like Smike did:

Something to consider in regards to the harness bar that I didn't think about until recently is that the harness bar is going to prevent the seats from folding back in the event of a roll-over.

If you aren't running a roll bar and a harness when you roll, you're pretty much ****ed.

I like mounting mine with the suction cup to the sunroof. Then I just take off my rearview mirror so it doesnt block the picture. Note that this is for auto x purposed though. I wouldnt recommend removing your rearview mirror on an open track.

In your case since you have an SE you dont have a sunroof so I dont really have a good solution for you. If you have a cage or harness bar then that is s simple mounting point.

Ive been using the rear side window at the front of the door and tilted at 90deg. I can get a good view of drivers hand, in the mirror can see where Im looking, and see how close Im getting to cones.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys...I may try Smikes setup like golgo suggested. Anyone use the Buschur camera mount between the rear seats? Seems like it would mostly just pickup the action inside the car and not the track.

yup, i like this one too when no instructor is in the car. helps if you lay the passenger seat back a little too. very clear view of entire driver.

I agree with what others said and placing it on the rear window. Ive also seen people doing more multiple cameras. With the app and wifi bacpac this works great.

while on the topic of gopro mounting locations, how and where does one mount to capture the pedal action without obstruction of the legs. Do you mount it from behind? Do you clamp it on the top of the brake pedal looking down? How do you capture the pedals/foot cam? List materials/tools/mounts used and list where exactly it is mounted.

Yes, I tried mounting on the oem slider bar on the seat, but the legs are obstructing the view of the pedal work. It will not stick on the side of the door via curved and flat mounts or on the side of center console using said mounts. My legs would hit it and will be in the way. Same with mounting on the vertical part of the dash that goes below the steering column. It won't stick there either.
