Sleeping in Trailer?
Sleeping in Trailer?
I was wondering what has been everyone's experience with regards to sleeping in enclosed trailers during 2-3 days events. I have a 20 footer Featherlite trailer and was thinking about saving some money and staying in the trailer, but is it really worth it???
All depends on you and the facility you will be at. Some of them have great shower facilities etc and sleeping in the trailer would be bearable if you have a good air mattress etc (imo). That being said. . . It is really about you. Look at the cost difference vs the comfort difference and decide what the difference is worth to you.
I hate driving a car after a bad/uncomfortable nights sleep. I was debating sleeping in my trailer, at a few events, but I always end up staying in a hotel.
Nothing's better than heading back to a nice cool AC'd room, taking a nice shower, and relaxing on a nice cool bed, LOL. Being well rested for the next days track day is well worth the extra money.

racing mtb's we slept in the trailer a good amount of the time bc we werent close to hotels. it was up in the mtns and got cool at night so it wasnt bad. i wired a couple car batteries and ran my laptop off of a power inverter so the kiddo could watch movies. it worked out well.
for me the key is outside temp; if its too hot i cant sleep and the AC is worth the cost.
if i go to packwood next year with out the family again i'll be sleeping in the trailer; no way its less comfortable than 6 guys in a hotel room lol

Hotel ... almost always a holiday inn as they have early morning breakfast hours.
Simply taking a dump in a bug free toilet is worth the coin. I also like to relax and watch TV at night.

I am a tent guy myself unless the weather is just way too bad and I actually enjoy the events much more staying on site. Alot of that has to do with the social drinking part of racing. That is the part i enjoy the most!

It'll depend on the event. If it's a normal DE with people you don't know then a Hotel is worth it. If it's a party themed event like oh say any NASA SE event, or some of our Nasa events then stumbling to a tent is worth it. I convinced the old man to start bringing the RV out which makes it a WHOLE lot better then both a hotel or a tent. Eventually people get to that:
1/2ton and open trailer -> 3/4ton and better open trailer -> Enclosed trailer -> 1ton/duelly and personally upgraded enclosed trailer -> ATV/Scooter/Golf Cart inside Enclosed trailer complete with A/C and the fixins' -> Diesel RV and shorter enclosed trailer now that you realized there's a legal length limit and you no longer have to sleep in it.
Some people of age and wisdom skip to the end once the addiction hits lol. But they usually just have the means but never the passion until then.
