Road Racing without an oil cooler...

So I moved my oil cooler for my exhaust setup, and I already have my setrab oil cooler, however I need to mount it and get the hard lines fabed up. I wont have this done before my first track day Aug 4th.

I will be racing at Streets of Willow, 1.8mi track 20 minute run session. I have an oil temp and oil pressure gauge in the car. At what oil temp should I pull it off the track?

I know most of you guys are going to say wait until the oil cooler is done, but I really need to get some track time, I made lots of changes and want to do some shake down runs to figure out what else I need to knock out before my big events at Subifest this year.

So tell me what you think about running with out the oil cooler, and at what oil temp I should pull it off the track.

Also it is a stock motor on e85 running about 400hp/350tq. I might lower the boost and get it about the 350hp/300tq range.

the e85 might help your cause, but even with a stock cooler in no where near cali heat i was able to get my temps up to 220 in the pan, which i believe is about the danger zone if it is sustained. depends on the oil too tho.

Get the oil cooler done or don't take the evo on the 4th. I don't even see why you would be willing to risk overheating your motor...

Do you NEED hard lines? Just order some hose and build your own lines!

Absolutely not. I wouldn't even consider tracking my car, even for time trial without an oil cooler. I run on E85 and I still see spike oil temps over 240 degrees with an oil cooler and ducting. A full 20 minute session without an oil cooler...
