Nemo is a completely different level: A full DRY carbon fiber one-off body designed by a professional aerodynamicist, over $40k in sequential transmission/air shifter alone, custom EVERYTHING...not to mention having cosworth on standby for events...

For real though, its crazy. Watch any Youtube vid or when you look at any of the pictures on FB when they roll back into the pit, literally, 20+ people standing waiting with clip boards haha.

So basically they just outspent everyone?

I mean the car is amazing, I've read a few of the articles... but knowing that they've doubled everyone else's costs kind of takes away from it IMHO.

Isn't that how all racing works? More money more wins...

money and racing has a much greater chance of winning. it sucks. That's why I really enjoy autocrossing. I don't care how much money you stick into a car, it will be very hard to overcome driving skill in an autocross. I've seen may guys take cheap megan coilovers, cheap rotas, and still beat up on guys running MCS and Volks.

Yeah, its not the most expensive car to ever compete in WTAC. Especially when you consider travel costs for other teams ($50k+/-) that aren't local to even come to WTAC each year. It is the first to have the kind of collaboration of industry experts that Nemo had though. Having a good aerodynamicists and the fabrication ability that the team behind the car had is well beyond the reach of the vast majority of teams. Tilton has to be knocking on the door of Nemo costs at this point with a trip to Japan and lots of time in the wind tunnel for this year. Again, I'd take Andrew Brilliant's designs with no wind tunnel data over a few weeks in the wind tunnel with voltex (sadly I'm willing to bet Brilliants services were cheaper).

Keep in mind that last year at WTAC would be the equivalent of one f1 team (Nemo) making an all new chassis to conform to the new rules while every other team modified formula renault 3.5 cars to 'work'.
