Well they knew they were coming up against project nemo. They needed to make a big play to try and maximize downforce. Bad news for them is they blew the motor, but even without the blown motor they wouldn't have gotten close. Nemo has way more professional aero and chassis development, not to mention huge $$$ that easily eclipses the cyber evo's total investment since its appearance on the scene in a fresh build.
And yes these pictures are from WTAC 2012

Unfortunately the Cyber Evo really has no chance against Nemo even with the new ruleset. It's a basically stock body with light weight and a truly mental driver with relatively little invested compared to the $$$ tube frame, full carbon Nemo. Running very low boost last year Nemo completely crapped on every other entry, and is supposed to be on kill mode this year.
The only car I see having a shot against Nemo is the Tilton Interiors car if Tilton can keep the motor from blowing up or possibly Under Susuki's S15.

The Tilton Interiors car has 0 chance. NEMO didn't even have its own motor last year. They blew theirs up in testing and borrowed a motor. They were running less than 550whp at WTAC 2012 if I remember correctly. The car is capable of 3g's in corners. Nothing else is getting close unless they start from scratch, do a similar build to the limit of the rules including getting a professional aerodynamicist, and have a nearly unlimited budget.
Not to nit-pick but it started life as an Evo VII, not IX
