Ya no kidding. I'd like to see anyone to 3 entries and TWO tires, and see how that throws a wrench in hoho's machine

I like to see BFG have same tire contingency for TT as hoho. then we could have a tire war.

Don't you love how nasa just posts the forms without TELLING anyone. Looks like Maxxis is the first to the table, 1 tire for 3 starters! AST, SPEC, and a few others have theirs up as well.

Does Maxxis have anything to compete with the A7? Or do they only make the RC-1?

Not sure if its better to start a new thread or not, but Ill try here first.

What is everyone running for NON R-Comp tires? Id like to finish up at least another full season on street tires before making the jump to R-Comps, but I do feel as though Im at a point where tire selection is making a difference.

I finished last season on a set of 275 BFG Rivals and liked them, though it appears they have disappeared from Tire Racks site. I had my eyes set on the RS-3, but it looks like there out of stock until at least mid April. Unfortunately my Rivals aren't going to carry me over that long.

For us just the RC-1, 100TW. The rest of their line up is spread out on off-road, bicycles, and some other racing apps. I did pick up one of their trailer tires though as a spare.

On the street tire question, ya you can discuss that here all day. But I agree it seems to be coming down to "if you can find them" among the top 5 or so streets.

really depends on what you do with your car and how much compromise you want to make between street driving and on track. sounds like you're not trying to do anything competitive with street tires. so just get what ever that's cheapest and last longest. I've ran on NT05, R1R, star specs, azenis, rs3, what ever i can find for cheap new or used.

Nothing competitive yet, though that is my long term goal. The car saw ~7k miles last year and I believe about 5k of them were on the track; essentially I'm not concerned with street driving. My thought process in staying with street tires is that until I'm able to get everything possible from the tires the biggest improvements should be made on my end.

grab a set of z2's since i think some of em are on clearance on tire rack. or wait for the s2 star specs. i was pleased with mine last year, showed very little wear.

im in the same boat tho, i think its time to get off street tires and that thought is being pushed by the fact that i need a new set of street tires/rain setup for the car anyway so i think ill transfer my z2's to the street wheels and get something new.

im further complicating it by staying with 17's.

-are nt01's worth anything anymore?
-rc1's are now available in a 275/35/17
-nt01 and rc1 are about identical in cost
-ventus td's probably dont last long enough when doing lapping vs tt (also pricey)?

hey thai, i think i remember seeing tim (i think thats his name? the red 350z) on rc1's. hows he like them?

I haven't tested them for a full session, unless it's a rain session,, so if you don't mind doing under 8 laps a session, they last a long time.

Unbelievable grip though.

yeah, tim was running RC1 last year. he said he liked them, probably around the same performance as nt01 but might last a little longer since there are no tread blocks.
