Well then get the vette those things are pretty beast on the track. You have space for huge rubbers. Gobbs of reliable power right out of the gate and also a very well balanced car!

The fragility of the clamshell is a huge detractor for me. My friend has an Exige that he's selling for that very reason. He tracks it, but he's super worried about the design. I think he's planning on moving into a used FRS to beat the **** out of lol.

People keep parroting "raw" but that's not my goal, really. Most serious performance cars come raw out of the box as a side effect of making the car perform.

with you're car selection, seems like you want a car with a lot of HP. go with light chassis and LS swap. i've seen some E36 with LS swap go for $15k
It's not really the power that I want, I think it's just the balance across the board that comes with that power in my examples. We all know you can make power easy with the evo, so that's not it. If I just wanted power, I could slap a turbo on my car and go.

I was considering the E46 for a while, but I think the strange maintenance schedule of the S54 motor scared me off.

I do like that the E46, S2K and older cars come with way less nannies.

It came down to a C5 Z06 and the Evo for me. I love the Evo but always wonder what if.
One thing to consider is a Pro series truck or Ex cup, busch, ARCA car. The trucks are lightest, have brakes and plenty of tire. All the suspension bits are top shelf and very reasonably priced. A roundy rounder is easily converted to road course use. A crate motor has plenty of suds and gets you back to pump. Easy to work on. They pop up in the high teens / mid twenty's with spares.

i do see plenty of stock c5 and c6 blow up at the track, so they're not as bullet proof as you think.

Any more information? I found that just about every mass production car has exploded at the track at some point.

The >4s left handers with >1.1g starve oil in the LS motors, but the dry sump in the LS7 reduces that and the added tank expansion mod ($300) stops it altogether.

Every other day I consider selling off the evo only if I found the right E46 M3 or E92 to trade. I love the evo and wish I could have both, but like you… the thought of NA RWD is intriguing going into year seven of owning the evo.

I disagree with this. You have WAY more time left in that car as it sits at Thunderhill. At least 5-7 secs.

It's not the car.

Totally.

I haven't been pushing it hard enough at t-hill. I just broke a confidence barrier at my last event so I think that I can reel in those 5-7s.

Not sure why I'm ready to leave the platform though.

I was thinking about an E92 until I saw the weight. 3700lbs?

Nothing wrong with getting bored with a platform, I can understand that.

Bored is kinda relative too... maybe harder forms of "racing" might fix that

Ahem. Sub-$2K runners, all day long. Bork one, get 'nother. Gott dang roll cage cost more than the car.

(Or get a 911 GT3 Cup. Cup car. Cup car is always the answer.)

Parsh!
