1%'ers cant throw away 30k either.. You're thinking of the 0.1% :P

Im constantly torn with thoughts of other cars and going more stock-ish (Focus RS, GTR, M3, MKIV Supra, GT350 Mustang, etc) or a real purpose built car with cheaper chassis (S14 240sx, NC Miata). Its just hard to justify anything with the performance already had in the Evo.

Make no mistake, my car as it sits still has A LOT left on the table. It's not even modded aggressively by any means.

I'm at a crossroads with the car (Between heavier mods to allow for safety equipment and platform boredom.)

If I can get to the track this year (between homes right now, so the car and everything is in storage) then maybe that will re-new my passion for the car.

it doesn't take much LOL. i just finished my off-season rebuild. i replaced my 125k suspension bushings with poly. WOW. what a difference. well.. maybe driving my civic for the past seven mos has something to do with it haha. but holy crap, the thing is razor sharp. add that to the PSRS and new camber settings.. i <3 it. it's why i will realistically, probably never build another car for the track.
this was just on the 18mi drive home. my faith has been restored LOL.

but i still need an FD (with rotary) for a weekend cruiser :P

Yea maybe. I was going to sell my Evo 10 because it felt like a huge let down coming from my 8. Then I took it to the track and now I'm falling in love with it.

Thanks for the feedback, fellas! Appreciate the alternate perspective.

Would still love some input on the NSX from some of the racers in this sub-forum...

my buddy just picked up a mildly prepped (Koni coils, couple sets of CCWs/Hoosiers, sparco wheel/seats etc) C5 Z06, and I have to say, after riding with him (a real driver) i am nothing short of very impressed. that thing will boogie around the track. fast, reliable (ish) and can stuff a 335 hoosier out back. pretty "affordable" now.

Otherwise E36 M3, S2K all good options.

Yeah, the oiling issue is pretty well documented.

I was thinking of a dry sump with the expansion tank and even an accusump.

I am having the same discussion with myself. I like my Evo but I like to drive the car on the street and its a pain in the *** with the cage lack of windows no radio etc. I was thinking about a mild C6 Z06. Or event a CTS-V. I just miss that fun Canyon car I used to have but I want to beat up cars at the track too.

I got the wife a 2012 cooper S with the DSG and I'm really impressed with it. For stock everything it's one of the more fun cars I've driven to date. Esp on technical mountain roads for weekend getaways. My idea is to have a fun, multipurpose car like it that's slower then the race car. This way I don't start turning "it" into a race car Then when I want to attack the track I just open the other garage.

Funny, I had a 2007 Cooper S six speed for a couple of years.

I ditched it due to the issues with intake valve coking caused by the DI system.

BMW wanted to charge me to pull the head to clean it at 48,000 miles for a problem caused by their own design.

Yeah, no. I told them to button that **** back up so I could sell it.
