Pretty sure its scuff from tire roll. I even get it on my hot rod DD when cornering hard

Have also seen it on my NT01's at the track when my front align was stock

BTW, nice shot of you tearing it up out there

yes its a roll over, but the rally tires has extremely strong side wall ,and still if you drive fast and hard enough at the start...
So sometimes when you start the race with lower pressure then optimal racing temperature, because you dont want to get too hot end of your session its an easy phenomenon.

little help from the ditch hooking and from the outside tire lol

all tires (street) has a tire roll over marking. So if you do go over that marking , you need more pressure or stiffer suspension. if you go under then you need less pressure or softer suspension.

Its a very general explanation , but i hope its a good start

The marking is a little triangle on the tire wall.

Yea odd thing is pilot super sports don't have those triangle indicators. I'll try upping the psi from 32cold to 36/37 in the fronts and go from there. If it makes the mark I'll prob bring it up a pound or two.

Where I come from, that is a wear indicator. I live in the deep South, so what do I know?

They do actually. They're shaped like the Michelin man instead of triangles.

Got the fronts to 40 hot and still had the sidewall looking the same. I see a little paint from the bottom of my driver front fender coming off I'm thinking the tire is rubbing when doing a hard right hander. Size my of tires are 245/40/18. I spoke to the event organizer(autocrosser for many many years) and he says I might even need to get my fronts to 48 psi hot. Now for the tire rubbing on the fender, could that be due to maybe a bad shock? My shocks have 99k miles on them or is that pretty much expected?

You're likely getting excessive body roll due to worn OEM shocks. Time to start looking into coilovers.

wheel flex and hub bearing flex also push the top of the wheel out during high Gs.

I'd be worried if the hub bearings flexed THAT much...

So this might be another part of the problem as well lol. That bump stop is destroyed and def not doing its job. I'm going to replace the strut, bump stop and strut mount.

Time for a nice set of FA 500's

Did you trim the bump stops when the Swifts went in? likely they should have been trimmed before installing. Just checking

I read you don't need to trim the bump stops with Swifts.
