Lol, was literally just comparing the specs. 1" is pretty significant. See there are literally no good options. Looks like this season is going to be very back loaded for me...

Maybe my luck will turn and Ill find a truck to buy tomorrow and then I can get my A7's...

Buy an electric impact. Makes swapping wheels super easy.

Have one. Its not that I cant do that but would just rather not. That entails showing up earlier (Im notoriously late, lol!) plus the hassle of fitting 4 wheels in my car along with fuel tools cooler etc.

If the 285/30's were in stock I would gladly pick up a set at this point but unfortunately they are on back order hence looking for something else.

I agree... I was in a similar boat that I WANTED the 285/30/18 RE71R's, but they've been impossible to find for the past 2 months or so. I should have ordered them earlier this year, but was being "cheap" and waiting for their normal $70 rebate through various retailers.

I went the A7 route and while I love the extra grip, I LOATHE having to change my wheels and tires 4 times a weekend (2 day autox events locally). Especially when the temps get to the 90s+! I'm getting too old for that...haha.

My thoughts exactly. Its not that I can't do that but would just rather not. Its nice to show up and drive and then drive home. Not to mention the thought of what extra grip leads to i.e possibility of xcase issues axles and whatever carnage. This is why I decided a long time ago I wont go to slicks until I can trailer the car there.

I would consider the RS4's but once again their sizing sucks. I dont think it makes sense to drop down to a 275 over a 285. They have a 285/35 but that is a massive sidewall so no way that'll fit unless I go monster truck status

I just read in another thread that tire rack will shave a new tire to match your current ones if you wanted to go that route.

I cant say if they still do it, but I did have one shaved for a GFs forester like 13 years ago (which seems insane it was that long ago...)

Yeah TR still doe shave tires. I know from experience as I had one shaved last year when I picked up a screw right next to the sidewall. I dont have the best luck when it comes to tires, lol!

So the thing is that while I can order 1 tire and have it shaved Im looking at ~$400 and thats for a tire being shaved down to almost a slick. So I cant decide if its even worth the money vs just buying a new set which is my dilemna. If I can pick up one heavily used tire on the cheap say $100 then I wouldnt feel as guilty but to buy 1 and basically kill it seems silly. Although what to do with the other 3 tires that are almost done? Retire them early?

OTOH I finally bought my truck and picked it up last night. So if I purchase a trailer sooner than later then the choice is easy...A7's here I come

Im going to be selling my RE71Rs 275-35-18 soon. I believe the date on the tire is 38/16. I have 2 track days on them. Bunch of meat left on them
