Absolutely! I never run any turbo at more than 25psi in track trim. So, my goal has always been to find a turbo that makes the power and tq I want at that psi. The green was great, though I missed out on the torque it would provide, due to being on a stock short block and 6spd. It made the car feel laggy anywhere but a road course.
I run my stock turbo at 25psi also, but it's plenty fast on e85. I still do well at local AX events and kick plenty of butt on my HPDE days. No complaints.
I think (for me) the perfect compromise will be another HTA 71. I plan to go that route, again, in the future. That is a really, really, REALLY good turbo!
But enough about my car, this thread is about yours. I look forward to updates!

Yea, I always aim for 24-25psi for track tunes, regardless of turbo.

My current setup with a 5858 outputs 540whp at 24.5psi and with the built 2.0L and 10:1 compression it’s really responsive for that power output and I get extra revs (8600) if i need them

I’ve been surprised by the 5858. It has exceeded my expectations.

I think you’ll be very happy with it OP

The 5858 is my pick on turbo when I can afford it, but had planned on it going on a 2.3, but am now flip flopping and may stick with the 2.0. Still not sure on that. Sounds like alot of fun.

I appreciate hearing your ideas. Feel free to share regardless of whose car it is. Plus, it'll be sometime until i have a substantive update. I'm still collecting parts.

That's awesome to hear! I'm pretty stoked. I'll shoot for the same psi as it seems most on here do too.

From what I've read, I'd go 2.0. The superior rod lenght and better harmonics make it more reliable. My car came with a well built 2.3. It was a shop car. The build has great parts, if not i would've held out for a built 2.0.

Here's a photo of my first evo. I plan to make my current one similar.

Thanks, I'm being convinced on the 2.0, as you said, better rod ratio, and would probably suit my racing fine, especially with a 5858 on it.

This is my baby up on the hoist.

Currently running 17x8's with 235/40x17 Kumho V70a's, but because I can get 2nd hand Dunlop DZ03G's in 245/40x18 cheap, I'll be changing up to 18x9's soon.
