Hi! We run a Mitsubishi Eclipse V6 3.0L in road racing under SCCA STU rules. We are considering an engine swap to the turbo 2.0L 4G63 Evo engine. We would need to have a 35mm (1.4”) restrictor plate. Anyone know if that would make sense or how much would that plate impact performance?

35mm restrictor as a pretty big effect on power up top. WannabeGTS (I think thats his name here, Zach at PRE) has an FP Evo with a restrictor and might be able to give more info on the limits. I recall SCCA use to run something like a 37mm but had to increase it because that was too aggressive.

try avoiding a simple plate but get a proper turbo inlet restrictor.. like https://www.raetech.com/Restrictors/Restrictor_GT.php

gr N cars used to run 32 mm which limits them to about 260 or so hp.. my guess is that with a good 35mm setup you are looking at 350 hp or so..

or do as toyota did and put in a restrictor with a secret passage that opens up the moment you tighten on the air filter..
