Watched the whole hour long clip on FB. Good stuff.

That motor needs tightened up though. Shouldn't be filling the catch can in three laps.

Once they vented the PCV side of the valve cover it all was good.

Also, they were thinking having the port coming straight out of the valve cover to the catch can was not ideal. Just basically sending all the oil direct to the catch from the VC. Even adding a 90degree elbow from the top would probably help.

After reading about a couple of different ways to ensure Crankcase ventilation I like Tscomp's method. I have seen so many builds where the ports of ventilation are just increased. However, there is nothing in the valve cover that pulls the gases out. Thus overpressurizing the crankcase is still a possibility.

Tscomp increases the diameter of the intake port and connects it back to the intake. This way the air intake is always pulling the gases out.

Thanks!

Ha. No, i stopped recording in between to save on file size.
They did facebook live stream the entire removal. Once it was removed they actually had to wait about 25 minutes for the new clutch to arrive before they could get back at it. Not sure if work here but i'll try to add it.

Thank you for putting the documentary together. Finally got to watch it last night - that was awesome. I am always rooting for you guys.

The video both gets me hyped up to do OLOA and completely terrified to do it I don't think my mechanical abilities are ready for the level of mechanical failure an event like this might offer.

If you're not pushing over 400whp you will hopefully not face such issues.

Eitherway, the RS crew is always down to help others if you have issues on the trip

Eh, one could better prep the car to avoid failures. Replace wheel bearings prior to the event is something I would probably do.

The clutch was a freak thing. I've never seen and exert do that. Wondering if someone forgot the loctite the last time the clutch was rebuilt.

And the torn charge pipe coupler and fuel pump grommet are super easy to diag/fix.

The bolts all broke off.

Yeah, that happened because they came loose.

Sounds like you should give it a try.

I didn't really say anything bad except I would've started the event on fresh wheel bearings.

Wasn't bashing at all. They didn't really have any "avoidable" or prep-related major issues. It would be interesting to see the failure mode of the bolts for the clutch. I just don't see them shearing off if they didn't come loose.
