Is there no point of diminishing returns, when it comes to bigger tires?

With just under 900lbs per front tire, not at 315-335 range. Think about the rwd guys on 315s with 650-700lbs per tire and look at the ratios.

700/315 = 2.22

My car,

875/315 = 2.77
875/335 = 2.61

Miata,

520/275 = 1.89

So we are still really far from the lighter cars in tire/weight. And thats been shown from everyone that has gone wider has gone so much faster they've had to change their setup for it. So 335s is really where AWD guys need to be to manage the front weight.

Jesus. And I'm happy with moving up to a 275 NT01 or 285 R1 Though it looks like a 315 NT01 is shorter than the 275, so maybe an easier fit. My problem is probably being limited to a 10.5. wheel.

Is 10.5 your limit cause of rules or what's available?

It took the SM suby guys to really punch it home to me that more tire greater than all the compromises to run it even for us where width is a big penalty for driving thru things.

Mostly a 10.5" wheel seems to be as much as I want to fit right now. I'm not wanting to do a TON of massaging. 18x10.5 +30 won't take TOO much work. Also, my car doesn't make a ton of power, so I'd like to keep wheel/tire weight reasonable. Then there is the fact tires start getting really, really expensive after 275s.

In the back of my mind, I still wonder about the pluses and negatives of going MUCH larger. I've seen some Evos turn really good lap times on 255s. I'm trying to wrap my head around the grip and weight of an 18x10.5 wheel with a 305 tire being worth it over the much, much lighter 17x9.5 wheel and a really sticky 255. It's hard for me to accept

It's a 305/35 so it's way taller than the 275. The 315/30 is a hair shorter than the 275/35.

AFAIK when you get into the wide Hoho stuff, the 315 and 335 are the same height, so you just need to get clearance for the extra width. Kaj if you aren't already aware, to fit any wide (275+) on that 10.5 up front you'll need to fold over the pinch weld in the front wheel well.

I originally typed "315" but autocorrect hates me. thank you. LOL
I don't mind some hammering where nobody will ever see. The car deserves that kinda treatment ,anyway.

On the AMod car we did find the limit where more tire wasn't better. With 300# corner weight a 12" wide tire (aka 305) was too much.

1:1 not good (Via AM), 2:1 good (Via CSP/SSM). Check!

I cant speak to drag on track but certainly seems even though 335 seems huge, its not really that big for our weight.

315s aren't a whole lot more than 275s.. So I'd try them if they would fit a 10.5" wheel and wouldn't need substantial body work. NT01s run a bit wide... 12.6 inch "overall width" vs 10.9 for the 275. So probably gonna try the 275s first. For either, I may have to ditch the PSRS, though.
Wider tires = more or less camber?

I dont think you'd need to ditch that, just hammer and cut where needed to not rub on side skirt area.

Besides I doubt I'd be able to get mine out. Those mother effers took a lot to get pressed in. Probably easier to just get another set of arms, but again at that point just get Dallas's. Which I intend to do once I have some spare coin.

My sideskirts are fine, it's the front of my fender liners that have completely worn away. I don't want to have to start cutting the front bumper, if it's going to get into brackets, etc. I wouldn't really know what I'm getting into until I dropped $3k on wheels and tires. Nobody in my area has a way to test fit really aggressive sizes. That would be ideal.

Really? I find my wheels too far back with the WL PSRS thingy and SSB caster tophats. Rubbing at the back of the wheel well.

My fender liners are worn to all hell, they'll stop self clearancing eventually. As long as you're not rubbing metal or wires you're fine.
