i always had a "stock" car to play with while the evo had this issue or that issue going on. really relieved the pressure of getting work on the car done

There's a good joke. Most consensus I've seen is just within certain circles. There was a while there where every Gridlife Evo was on Stance/Reinharte but we've almost all moved on.

I'm trying to make MCS a thing now if you want to help.

oh that would be why I've even heard about those brand names. Wasn't there some JRZ/Moton phase? I know the Ohlin's was the default rec for enthusiasts.
How's the MCS for the evo? I think I read the rear is quite short? I'm running 295s so its riding higher.

I would love to have kept my car in "STU" (bolt-ons) trim. I'm just too weak to resist the temptation of getting experience with an upgraded clutch, e85 and wider wheels. now upgraded clutch, ECU tuning and wider wheels are allowed. ugh no going back for me

There isnt really a perfect coilover solution for Evos. I'll be keeping my Ohlins flags forever but if they weren't available I'm not too sure what Id go with. Evos have such a high range of travel and ride heights that body height adjustment is very helpful.

I like the MCS on my Mustang but the Evo MCS kit tends to be too long up front and too short in the rear. And with the rear uprights, ride height is lowered making it even worse. So the rear needs to be 1-1.5" longer than the kits Ive seen.

They ride great and feel fantastic on track. I had the rear bodies for mine built longer to work with Dallas' uprights, but I agree with his comment that they could do with being a bit longer still. They work at my ride height but there aren't a ton of threads above where I'm at, especially for anyone not running helper/tender springs. The limitation on just running a taller spring ends up being clearance to the UCA but I think you could get away with spring length adjustments at any given perch height if really needed. The longer bodies that I have would work fine with a stock upright, but if I had to buy again for Dallas' parts I'd add an inch or so to the rear length.

I think between Andy and I we got the front end length figured out. At least with the Vorshlag top mount, the travel is identical to what I had with my old Reinhartes and bottoms out just before the tire contacts the frame. With a shorter top mount you'd need a longer body or a bump stop to achieve the same.

And that actually reminds me, I want to pick your brain a bit about front end camber. Is it better on these cars to dial it in at the knuckle or at the top hat? The MCS lower brackets allow for a lot more camber adjustment at the knuckle so I'm trying to figure out how to balance the two and you'd be the guy to know.

Do you have a pic of that c/o?
Maybe Dallas or you can make his adj rear control arms take a spacer-bracket thinger
I avoid making changes to the topmounts especially since thats where additional caster is achieved. plus i dont want to wear out the hardware. My coilovers use standard camber bolts and ProfessionalAwesome camber locks. The adjustment range is nice. I compress the suspension before tightening it up but to get exactly 4deg i have to add a small spacer around the bolt threads to fill the slack.

Is this with the default MCS front length? Or did you request a custom length there too?

I got a friend that crashed his Evo on track. It wasnt suspension damage but front end damage. He is selling his set of MCS 2-ways for a considerable discount from new. If you are interested then I can send him your contact info.

Just now circling back on this and looked through all the documentation I have, there's no specific notation on the invoice as far as the c/o specifics, the process is that they send you a damper drawing with existing measurements and you note any dimension changes to meet your needs. The only change to the rear was adding 20mm in body length (and by extension +20mm to OAL) to the damper bodies per Dallas' recommendation.

I was looking at those ProAwe camber locks as well. Need to spend some time messing with the combination of camber at the upright versus the top mount to see how that affects both other settings and the feel of the front end first though.

After a roundtable between me, another customer, Dallas, and MCS, they came back with their standard length body as being a fit for the application when paired with the Vorshlag top mounts. A different top mount stack thickness would result in changes to the body length being necessary because the relationship between the two (plus a bump stop if you decide to run one) is what determines your compression travel limit.
