I’m not necessarily looking for a street tire at all. I trailer my car to the track. And, if it rains, then I’ll swap on my PS4s, which I always stick in the truck.
In that case I'd just get R7's. They also wear like iron but not to this suggested dream level lol. As you said the thing of it is any "R" compound tire will age out before they wear out if you're only doing 2-3 weekends a year. So i'd be on hoosiers rather then wasting something else. If you're doing 10-20 weekends a year then ya any of these 100tw's will do the job. If you can afford to do said 10-20 a year, then you really aren't saving much by using 200tw's lol.

I ran the old *** Toyo RA-1 on track and AX for several years. I see why the spec miata guys loved them over the R888s when they came out. They basically wore like iron, didnt die over a winter, and were super cheap. They also kick butt in the rain at full depth. The latest 200tw tires are a bit faster for AX but I dont think the margin is much especially on track.

Alright, I will just cut to the chase here. There is no way a fast driver is having a set of RC1's last 30 track days. No way, no how. No matter the car or power level. So either you are wayyyy over exaggerating the number of track days, or the other thing isn't true.

Like I said, there are other guys who agree with my experience, and for some reason you're taking the absolute upper limit that I said as the only number? I gave a range because I only know of my experience with them and the ones the PO told me about how much he used them, I'm sure there was other days he didn't tell me about because I found videos he posted of sessions and based off how little they've worn over the 2 years I've had them I used that to make an upper limit number. It also depends on the track you're driving. Gingerman and ABCC are the tracks I've frequented the most and neither are particularly hard on tires.

You're more than welcome to not believe me, I really don't care whether you do or not, I'm just giving my experience and input as to what I believe to be one of the most affordable HPDE/practice tires that give solid, consistent performance and still have a decent pace.

I don't tell people to buy hohos unless they have LOTS of seat time because all softer compound slicks do is hide bad driving habits. I've ridden with and watched enough guys drive like **** on hohos and put down decent lap times to stay away from them until I feel I've gotten every ounce out of ****tier tires.

The RC1 was born from spec miata as well because they wanted a tire that could last a reasonable amount of races without breaking the bank. Outside of spec classes, nobody is winning anything on RC1s. They're not an ultimate outright speed tire. They just last a long *** time and offer consistent performance which is what I think is most important for a practice tire.

Had some good success with those on a miata but I didn't trust them for a heavier car like the Evo

Other than them being cheap Federals bring nothing to the table that other slightly more expensive 100/200TW stuff easily outperforms.

With all due respect, absolutely not. They work "okay" on lighter, low-powered cars, but H A T E anything else, like our cars. I agree with Balrok: If you aren't gonna track much, get a better tire. It's okay that it wears fast. I'd rather cord a tire than have one age out. I hate wasting money. With the stickier tire, at least you got 100% use out of them.
