idk what bar and plate vs tube and fin is... but blitz/hypertune is good & light? i'm at about 310-320whp, don't need too much i assume. @kaj where did u get your blitz? and how much does it way? did it hook up to stock sized ICP?

Now that I have a tow vehicle I'm just going to move to e85 and carry a drum to events.
e-85 helps a ton. It burns soooo much cooler. It helps a lot with overall operating temps. As for IATs and knock, being bar and plate, it's good that your FMIC is 3". That helps. The thicker it is = harder to cool down, once soaked.

Any FMIC you buy should state which way it's constructed. I think....? I can't speak for Hypertune, as I'm not familiar with the brand. Blitz is light, yes, due to it's *smaller* size and construction. According to my emails, I got my FMIC from Evasive or FRSport. It was really hard to find, at the time. I honestly never think to weigh parts because I think it would stress me out and I'd become obsessed Yes, I'm still using all the OEM couplers (except for j-pipe).

Evo 8/9 OEM FMIC Core:
19" x 11.5" x 2.75"
600.9 cubic inches

Blitz SE Core:
24" x 10.4" x 2.67"
666.4 cubic inches

Looks like barely an upgrade to me.

The greddy 24f for CT9A:
23.6" x 11.1" x 2.59"
678.5 cubic inches

I think I forgot how small CT9A intercoolers can be. haha.

I run the Greddy 33f fmic on my 10:
20.6”x11.6”x3.95”
943 cubic inches

It's not just about size, turbulator fin design and density plays a big part in core efficiency. @V.8MR has a Bltz as well. The first time I picked it up I was super surprised at how much lighter it is than my ETS 3.5". But yea, definitely start with an upgraded intercooler.

As to your initial question, I run E85 and have the adjuster for my manual boost controller cabin mounted so if I see real knock I can pull boost out of it on the fly, but realistically, if you're making less than 350whp on E85 what you're seeing isn't real knock unless your timing is waaaay off.

Also, get a 2.0 Tactrix cable. The dongle piece should be capable of recording most of a 20 minute session which you can then plug into your laptop later to review.

Where are you getting this info from? If these are tube and fin cores I'd definitely be interested in moving to one of them vs my ETS.

When I was researching parts (guided towards Blitz, thanks to a discussion on EvoM) I also found:

OP: I was a bit hesitant because the Blitz is actually slightly less than 3" thick. I had years of drag racing and internet experience telling me it was too small. After talking to a few people who also did road racing, I was advised that the smaller size actually helps in terms of air flow and will be better for more than 1/4mi. Since I'm not after every WHP on a dyno, I decided to take the leap. So far, I've not even thought about it since.. which is good because it means I haven't had any issues
This is all at 430whp. However, if I were 500whp or above (or found my FMIC to not be up to task any time sooner), I'd probably be searching the other T&F FMICs razorlab posted. For 450whp and less, I *heart* the Blitz unit.

Before the Blitz, I had a 3" AMS FMIC and it was a tank, in comparison. I can only imagine a 3.5 B&P.

OT, dial the tune back as best as possible. With a streetish setup car even with a dialed back tune and good cooling on pump gas it's most likely still going to give some knock on hot days and later sessions. That's when you can try Torco and the like. Works well for many of us in the Pac NW and we don't get the summer heat that many of you folks do .

where'd you get it from? I'm not worried about the smaller size, i'm stock turbo 320whp. I'm more concerned about weight which is why I've been on the stock intercooler. If this thing is a little smaller but still does a little better, I'm ok with that. razorlab measured the volume, it's still about 10% more than stock, without having to bolt a dead horse to the front end

FRSport or Evasive. Not sure. They said I got the last one. Possible sales tactic.
