Keep AC?

Have the front bumper off for oil cooler upgrade and brake ducts (probably also going SD). Thinking of ditching the AC, don't need
it for street, I have 3 other vehicles I can daily drive. Just wondering if you get stuck tracking on a wet/really humid day,
do you kind of have to have AC for defrost or is heater good enough? ( I also refuse to track in high heat, so I only go
in spring and fall, preferring it actually somewhat cold out)

AC weight is small, the service and comfort in NJ..mind you ...priceless.
Keep it, there is zero performance gain ditching it.

if this is a dedicated track car then ditch it. If you are jumping through the hoops of keeping it registered and insured then keep it. IMO

It can get really hot out on the track and most people would hit the track for fun, not necessarily to break any records. You will have more fun being cool and comfortable even if having the AC in and on would cost you a few seconds. I've got a similar philosophy about Disneyland. If you get up super early to go to Disneyland to get the most out of your time, but you are tired and exhausted at the park, are you really having fun? Nope.

Even if the car never see's the road, I would probably keep the AC in it It get's VERY hot out here.

Im usually jealous of the people with cool cars in grid. But they're also jealous of my weight and speed. Pulling AC alone may not be all that huge, but its a step to committing to loosing real weight. If I stuck with a 2.0 and 275s, I can get an SM legal Evo in the 26xx range.

weight aside, the a/c condenser does obstruct airflow.

Only track I have been to, NJMP, was a "paced" HPDE event and they made you leave drivers window open
(is this the norm for track days and do they make you keep it open in the pouring rain?).

So not sure how well the AC works in full coths, helmit on, and window open at high speed. Could try it I guess. As mentioned,
I won't go in heat of summer. Better for me and the car to go in late sep, oct or mar/apr (granted we did have ice on the track early
on one time I went).

And is close to 40lbs right off the nose really not signifcant? (assuming that from EVO weight thread)

A/C compressor and condenser, 29.6 lbs
A/C Fan 6.4 lbs
AC Bracket 4 lbs

If so, then why go for 10 lb lighter IC, etc???

Just ditch it. Unless the car does street duties. But for a dedicated track or play thing AC is an easy weight to remove from the nose.

I've never been to a track event that didn't make you keep the front windows open rain or shine. Personally if its still street legal I would keep it, I've been down the road of streetcars with a/c deletes and manual steering conversions and it's not a road I'll take again. Not like you're going to be looking for every tenth of a second you can in HPDE.

I've had my whole ac system (Minus evap core) in a plastic tote and it for sure weighs something. If your worried about staying cool at the track check this stuff out.

I have a Cool Shirt system but still refuse to ditch AC. It's amazing when sitting in the staging area. Also, I occasionally drive it on the street and am too damned old to be showing up places, sweating through my shirt. Same for tuning sessions, doing work in the garage, or anything else I need.to in the car for.
I've had cars with no AC. Never again..ironically the Evo blows colder than any of my other cars. LOL
As mentioned above, if only a track car then yeah, I'd ditch it for the sake of simplifying the engine compartment and because I'd like to see the car get down to 2999lbs, one day.

Same here, I deleted my A/C for something like 6 years, then one day sweating my *** off in California stop and go traffic I had one of those "what am I doing with my life" moments and I put it back in. Never going back, not in a street car anyway.
