weight aside, the a/c condenser does obstruct airflow.
The other reason is I might eventually move to larger oil cooler where AC fan is. I was 220F, my first ever time out with this car (so not very hard driving I'd guess)
on a paced event and it was 40-50F out. Hoping Kaj's pan and new oil cooler help, but if not enough, going to make my own oil cooler setup with the largest that fits.

I wasn't sure on this and that kind of seals the deal. As mentioned, I have many other newer vehicles for hot street days. EVO is on collector insr, so really not much to keep it on there.

As mentioned above, if only a track car then yeah, I'd ditch it for the sake of simplifying the engine compartment and because I'd like to see the car get down to 2999lbs, one day.
I have old vehicles with no AC (59 bird, 70 bronco), so I'm pretty used to not driving stuff unless it is nice out. I've never taken EVO out in rain or snow and an EVO
is the most fun in cool dry days anyway for engine power, so when/if I drive it won't change much.

My coworker just grabbed an 09 Z06. He's only been on track with this paced stuff twice with an older CTS-V, and I drive harder than him, so
hoping I might be able to keep up for a couple laps anyway. Long term, I'm probably screwed if he gets to be a better driver, but I own this car
and all the mods (bought new for 30 and probably have 15 into it), so I'm going to run it until I realize I'm into tracking, to the point I have to buy a vette

It annoys the crap out of me he is already 100 lbs lighter, stock for stock. I was planning on a big weight advantage with what ever he got (he was looking
at SS's or maybe another older CTSV). I know nobody wins a track day, but that doesn't mean you ever want to run slower than your friends (if you can help it).
I am faster than a LOT of cars that have more than 100lb weight advantage over me.
Quite a few of them have no AC. I smile and wave with my windows up.
Other reason for keeping ac is for defogging. I've daily driven a car without ac and yes it's uncomfortable but once in a while I ran into real troubles not being able to defog my windows and it got unsafe. I keep ac now mainly for that.

That was my original question, only if I pay for a track day or weekend and it pours the whole time.
I'm sure I'll be out there, I just didn't know if windows had to be open. Since they do, how well does AC
defog in pouring rain, at high speed, with windows open (can't say I've ever tried that with any car).

Same thing here. Drove my Evo for 2 years with no AC and I just recently bought all the stuff to reinstall it and now I'm loving life.
Get that useless hunk of metal out of there. You can shed off some serious weight and distribute it by removing things like ac, sound deadening, relocate battery to rear etc..also not just weight, its also air flow as previously mentioned and any accessory activated through the pulley system draws power from the crank.

When I bought my Evo, the A/C wasn't working. Was one of the first things I did on the Evo, and has been totally worth it. If you get caught on rainy track day, you really learn to appreciate A/C. Especially here in FL lol
The next car i will have i would be happy to have one in place and working.
