Mold grew in the AC pipes. Thats what happens when you use the ac and you dont use normal air afterwards to flush the freon out of the lines.

I dont drive my Vette so it sits in the garage for long periods of time. About a year ago I took it out for a spin and noticed a real rank smell coming from the AC. I found a dead rat in the ducting. Small animals can get into small places...............

I use lysol for cleaning the mold out of the AC. Just turn the vents to forward and hit the recycling button so that it pulls air in from the bottom of the windshield. Then u spray the lysol there to get the spray into the AC system. Works good for me. And again, just turn off your AC while u let the car run to blow all the condensation out of the AC. Turbo timer does wonders here.

sory dude ur pretty wrong. mold grows on the outside of the evaporator. but ONlY if the water that condenses on the evaporator can't get out. u have an ac drain that usually drips. if it gets plugged its can escape . then its gets moldy like stale water in a refridgerator pan. with the ac on look under the car and look for water dripping... if its not dripping then find the drain and poke it with a stick. most likely gunky gross**** will be in there. then go to the store and buy some stuff that kills the mold and makeds it smell better. if it doesn't work and u have a shop or know how to suck down a ac system remove the whole thing and clean it out. but that is a lat resort thing. lol

i found the problem. i looked into the vents with a flashlight and theres 8 deadrats clogged up in there. I pulled them all out with a hook and fishing line.

do you think its due to the mother rat missing her head that could still be causing the horrendous stink? i think i might've fed it to my dog if it fell out. I was cleaning my passenger floormat at night because someone dropped their pastrami burger on the floor so i just picked it all up and fed it to my dogs.
