Decent tire temp probe that doesn't break the bank?

Can anyone suggest a decent tire temp probe that won't break the bank? All the racey-car-y guys I talk to swear by one with an actual probe and NOT infrared, for the sake of accuracy and consistency. I just need to get a rough estimate of the three zones, so I'm thinking any method is good enough since I'm on their level. Ideas, por favor?
I don't need anything fancy.. just something that works a time or two. Who knows if I'll ever use it again, once I get the car setup.

You need to probe below the surface. The actually surface temp changes very fast and you cant tune based on what that tells you. Even measuring below the surface you need to do a skid pad and pull off immediately and probe with as little braking as you can.

I use the joes racing probe. Its relatively cheap and not filled with fancy features but gives me a number I can use.

I use the s*** out of my longacre one because I change setups fairly often, it's the only way to tell if camber is really working or not. Originally was shared among a group but had since moved on and it's just part of my trackbox now.
