A billet block literally solves nothing except for saving some weight, and having better head gasket sealing capabilities.

The head gasket isn't a thing until you're at the 1000whp+ level.

The weight. $15k is a lot of longer for 50-60lbs or whatever it is.

What makes the billet block better at head gasket sealing?

EDIT: Or were you referring to standard bore diameter billet block vs. larger 4G64 bore?

You can get the taller 4g64 deck height in standard 85mm bore, 1/2" studs and the deck is thicker as well as being designed for the higher stresses of a high HP engine so it's less prone to flex/deformation.

Well ok, its expensive. Doesn't mean its not without merit though. "literally solves nothing" is simply not a true statement was my point.

Additionally I imagine the cooling and oiling passages are better designed/manufactured. Just putting that out there.

"Literally solves nothing" was directed at oiling issues.

The oiling issues of our engine are all due to the sump. Not due to how oil passages in the engine/block are designed. Same for coolant passages (maybe even less so) as they are limited by the openings in the head. Which, in a lot of really high HP builds, the head deck is actually welded shut so coolant doesn't come out if the head gasket leaks.

The oil passages are a problem in the EJ25, however I don't know what the billet blocks for those do to address it.
