Winter boredom as trans and clutch are getting installed. Unbolted my roll
bar, mustache bar, and took carbon dipped rims to powder coat. Found Exedy purple and thought “why not”. Guess I was having spending withdraws and needed to start 2021 with some purple. LOL!
I saw your other post regarding transmission woes. Team purple will certainly be in your corner, as the quartermaster wasn't doing you any favors. If you rang Jon I'm sure he advised the same.
Yes thank you. Jon definitely did along with the others on this forum. Amazed I lasted so many years......or suffered so many years......with the QuarterMaster b4 realizing that wasn’t helping me. Hoping for a long enjoyment on my complete new set up.
We are literally doing the same things this winter lol, instead of purple ive got red (OS Giken) I am getting wheels powder coated aswel..are you keeping it a gunmetal color or its just a basecoat? Im doing gunmetal grey or bronze. Haven't decided yet. Rollbar looking sweet btw
Awesome! I was originally going to do RuF Porsche green and add the plaid seat covers. Kind of my “Singer Porsche/Singer EVO” tribute.
Then that changed to red. Then I saw lots of red rims on everything.
Then Exedy purple looked so good during the clutch/trans install......that’s what I did. And yes, the wheels are shown with base coat. The purple goes on tomorrow. I got a Pearl coat finish so it takes a few steps.
Can’t wait to see your red. EVO’s seem to always look good with red accents.
I'm kind of surprised to see that you have a bolt-in, prefab roll bar with your level of build. Ever thought of doing a custom, welded one? It really stiffens up the chassis.
Yes. I sure have thought about a full custom cage. That’s a full race solution. I’m equal street car use / track car use. Built for track to win, and tolerate on the street. I’m trending towards less track these days. The one man EVO show wears me out. Actually, I have a guy..... but still. LOL! Soon to be driving teenagers are wanting to learn how to shift? What kids today are asking that? That’s reason enough for a full cage I guess.
The Evo is like a stadium inside without the chassis being welded together. AMAZING difference in stiffness and response. Almost required in any glued together chassis that's any kind of serious about speed in my mind. Miata's, S2k's and the such have less then half of the sq feet inside and between the pillars. My cage is likely 40+ point.
Full cage with halo isn’t a great idea on the street, but if you don’t need a back seat, you can do a nice half cage that will still stiffen things up very noticeably if it’s well built.
