so I upgraded my downpipe to a true 3 inch, which meant it'll no longer be perfect ft with the rest of the Expreme Ti setup. As you are aware, it is not true 3 in. Some retarded mechanic made a hole right next to the flange on my test pipe, leaving me with two options: fix it or buy new. Since working on titanium stuff is ridiculously expensive, at first I wanted just to buy one secondhand. But since this is the MS section, and it is a track car, why not fix it by approximately the same cost of a new/second hand one? I bought a 3 in flange together with a 3 in to 2.75 reducer cone from TiCon, and got to work (ok I outsourced all soldering).
Performance wise maybe I should get a real 3 inch exhaust system, but I'm not pushing ridiculous HP, as I'm stock motor (and I do like the Tomei). While I didn't do the math, optimizing the flow at the DP/test pipe is just ok to me.
I would be more concerned with the turbine wheel and MHI housing then the the Tomei neckdown.
I made 650whp thru a FP red mhi and the housing is the bottle neck. I also made 675whp with the same red with SS housing later on. Both on the full Tomei system.
I've gone to an EFR setup. I totally agree this is simply not needed or desired. But I like how well now all the pipes match and the flanges, and I had to buy or fix, unfortunately.
