Exclamation Forced Induction in World Challenge...

A buddy of mine just pointed out this thread on Honda-Tech:
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=908599

Assuming this is all valid, this would allow cars like the WRX and the Evo to finally compete at the Touring level. With very minor mods, the Evo could easily compete power-wise. Hell, they'll probably have to restrict boost to keep the power down. Weight could be the biggest issue, but that will all depend on what the SCCA sets as minimum weight.

The question begs to be asked: What do we need to do to get a factory / privateer Evo team in there?! Someone must have the ability / interest to do this.

Just thought I'd post this up to get some discussion on the topic. I love WC, but I long to see cars like the Evo and WRX entered and competing.

It woudl probably take some interest from Mitsu to give some support to a team.. I knwo some folks that were looking to cmapaign an Evo, but got hassles from Mitsu and an Offer from Dodge. Their now running SRT4s.. Imagine that... So get on Mitsu's Marketing arm..

Yeah, I think Mitsu will need to give some incentive to run the Evo. Hopefully this post will turn into an example of the interest there is for involvement in this sport. Just imagine if the budget from the 2F2F crap went into something like this!

I only saw like 3 Evo's at Mid-Ohio this weekend, I was hoping to see more. Oh well, great weekend for sure. I'd love to see some Evo's in SWC events!

I got a feeling the Evo would be power restricted very quickly. It would be going in with about as much HP stock as the other TC cars do now just to compete. I love the idea of introducing FI cars into the the TX mix as long as the SCCA keeps things fair. If they don't restrict the motors their REWARDS system is going to be used A LOT. It should remain competitive to the NA motors and if it's not that would truly be a shame. I also have a bad feeling that when FI is introduced the NA cars might have the ability to add turbos/SC to their motors. That would also be a shame because it would take away the 'off the showroom floor' appeal. FI adding should be reserved for the ***** out GT class.

EVO would more than likely be classified as a GT not touring car. WRX and SRT-4 would probably be touring, and that would be cool. I just hope they don't restrict the turbo's so much that they can't compete.

Looks like the Evo is already classed as GT. So is the WRX and the STi.
