yes I have one installed already. Installation simple, do a search and you will find many threads discussing this

I like the scroth harnesses, their great for autocross and track day events. The harness is DOT approved for street use.

I use it also, I concur with what chrisw wrote. Do a search, there is a nice install thread on this particular harness, with useful pics to boot!

I have them, their very nice. But I want to get a single mount and find a place to mount them up high. I have a rally 4 setup now, mounts down by the rear seatbelts.

Yea I have these as well but not much padding on the strap so need to get the pads which schroth makes also. I like Takata or Sabelt more because the belts are thicker ... but they cost more too.

I have the Rallye 3 belts. I installed them within a week of buying the car in April 2003. I use them for autocrossing and driving school weekends. They are mounted using the stock lapbelt bolts and the rear mount for the passenger shoulder straps. They work really well. I use the stock belts for normal use. On the race track, I put the stock belt over the Schroth harness.

These Schroth belts have a latch that disconnects the shoulder strap. When it is disconnected, the belts on the front seats easily push to the side and behind the seats. The rear shoulder support strap just hangs down on the rear seat backrest. I hardly notice that they are there.

The only problems that I have had is that the stock rear shoulder strap doesn't retract quite as easily (doesn't matter much though since I rarely have passengers in the back) and the black plastic housing/clip thing that covers the antisubmarine loop sometimes comes loose when the rear shoulder belt is disconnected. Not that big a deal.

Personally, I don't think there is any advantage to the Rallye 4 over the Rallye 3. Both connect through the same kind of release latch, so the breaking strength is about the same. It is much easier to mount the single shoulder strap of the Rallye 3 to the rear shelf so that it is loaded horizontally.

Check out what harness comes standard on the UK's MG SV-R. Taken from September's issue of CAR magazine.

2-inch wide 4-point harnesses are fine...unless you have a high-speed frontal impact (see "submarining") or a rollover (see "quadriplegia"). There's a reason why most organizations will not allow these types of harnesses at high-speed events.

But they're great for keeping your butt planted at auto-x.

Check with NASA too see if they will allow it. Most organizations will not (for the two reasons I listed above).

I used to use a big 3" 5 point harness in my older cars but they were a ***** to get on and off... I though the 2" 4 point was safe for tracks like streets of Willow etc...
